Job description

Position Title: Controller

Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite with flexibility)

Compensation: 100,000-120,000

Controller Position Summary

Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead daily accounting operations and provide financial leadership for a growing organization. This role will oversee accounting staff, drive month-end close activities, support intercompany accounting, and help strengthen internal processes while serving as a key partner to company leadership.

Controller Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor accounting team members across AP, AR, and general accounting functions
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Oversee financial reporting and account reconciliations
  • Perform and review intercompany reconciliations
  • Manage foreign currency transactions and exchange rate accounting
  • Ensure accurate cash, balance sheet, and income statement reporting
  • Develop and improve accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with leadership on special projects and strategic initiatives
  • Support audit, tax, and compliance requirements
  • Drive process improvements and increased use of ERP functionality

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong SAP experience is a MUST
  • Experience managing month-end close
  • Knowledge of intercompany accounting and reconciliations
  • Understanding of foreign currency transactions and exchange rates
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
