Job description

Description:

At IdeaTek, we arenโ€™t just an internet service provider; we are Freedom Fighters. We believe that high-speed, reliable internet is a fundamental right, not a luxury. Founded on the mission of "Fighting for Internet Freedom," we specialize in deploying innovative fiber-optic infrastructures to underserved areas. As we expand our movement into Tucson, Arizona, we are looking for a bold, resourceful, and community-minded leader to be our boots on the ground.

As the Community Relations Manager, you are the face of IdeaTek in Tucson. You won't be sitting behind a desk all dayโ€”youโ€™ll be out in the community, building bridges between our mission and the people we serve. You will cultivate local partnerships, manage public outreach, and ensure that Tucson residents know exactly why IdeaTek is the partner theyโ€™ve been waiting for. In this role, you will partner closely with our internal Community Team to ensure local initiatives align with our larger organizational vision and that regional budgets are strategically optimized to support IdeaTekโ€™s high-growth expansion goals in this significant new market.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the Face of IdeaTek: Serve as the primary point of contact for local government officials, neighborhood associations, and non-profit organizations.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and foster relationships with key Tucson stakeholders to promote our mission and expand our local footprint.
  • Event Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, town halls, and "Internet Freedom" rallies to educate the public on our services and values.
  • Advocacy & Education: Represent IdeaTek at public hearings and community forums to advocate for broadband equity and infrastructure development.
  • Local Communications: Collaborate with the marketing team to tailor messaging for the Tucson market, including press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Feedback Loop: Act as a liaison between the community and our internal teams, reporting back on local sentiment, concerns, and opportunities for service improvement.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in community relations, event planning, community engagement, public relations, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of the Tucson community, including its unique culture, demographics, and geographic landscape
  • Exceptional presentation, public speaking, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences and explain complex topics in a clear, relatable manner
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with community leaders, local businesses, government officials, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities, community initiatives, and events
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to think creatively, develop innovative community engagement strategies, and proactively solve problems
  • Ability to navigate complex community concerns, local government processes, and stakeholder feedback with professionalism and diplomacy
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to attend community meetings, outreach activities, and events
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during events and lift up to 50 pounds when needed
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions and a clean driving record

What Will Help You Stand Out

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in telecommunications
  • Bilingual Proficiency (English/Spanish)

Desired Attributes

Beyond the qualifications, these attributes are what make someone a great fit for our team:

  • People-focused โ€“ You genuinely enjoy connecting with others and building lasting relationships
