Job description

About This Role

As a Community Relations Associate at Alumni Ventures, you'll play a vital role in supporting our investor community while gaining hands-on exposure to venture capital, startup investing, investor relations, and fund operations.

This role sits at the intersection of customer success, relationship management, investor communications, and financial services. You'll work closely with prospective and existing investors, Managing Partners, Community Managers, and cross-functional teams to support fundraising initiatives, investor engagement activities, and operational processes.

You'll help individuals navigate their journey with Alumni Ventures-from initial interest through investment and ongoing engagement-while developing expertise in client service, investor relations, venture capital, and business operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for professionals who are eager to learn, take ownership, and grow their careers in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and direct exposure to senior leadership, you'll build valuable skills in communication, relationship management, project management, operations, and venture investing.

While prior venture capital experience is not required, successful candidates are often interested in investing, entrepreneurship, startups, financial markets, or business strategy and are excited to learn about the venture capital ecosystem.

What You'll Do

Investor & Community Support

  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for prospective and existing investors.
  • Respond to investor questions through email, phone, webinars, events, and other communication channels.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and thoughtful support using approved resources and internal playbooks.
  • Help individuals navigate Alumni Ventures' offerings, processes, and community experience.

Investor Support and Community Operations

  • Build strong relationships with investors, community members, and internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver a high-touch, service-oriented customer experience across the investor journey.
  • Anticipate needs, identify issues, and help resolve questions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Support investor onboarding and ongoing engagement efforts.

Partner Support & Operations

  • Collaborate closely with Managing Partners, Community Managers, and senior leaders.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, fund operations, club programs, and syndication activities.
  • Assist with virtual events, investor meetings, webinar preparation, and follow-up activities.
  • Help ensure smooth execution of key investor engagement and operational processes.

Data, Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Track engagement activity, investor interactions, and key business metrics.
  • Help maintain clean and accurate data in HubSpot and other internal systems.
  • Support reporting for Community Managers, Partners, and leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, communication, and the overall investor experience.

Strategic Projects

  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Support research, process improvements, pilot programs, and team priorities.
  • Take on increasing ownership as your knowledge and experience grow.

Who You Are

We're looking for a client-centered, detail-oriented professional who is excited to grow in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in customer success, client services, relationship management, account management, hospitality, recruiting, operations, financial services, consulting, or another customer-facing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through consistently.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and provide thoughtful support to customers, or other stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new systems, tools, and business processes.
  • Interest in learning about investing, venture capital, financial markets, startups, or related business topics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms.
  • Experience supporting clients, customers, members, investors, advisors, or other external stakeholders.
  • Exposure to financial services, investing, venture capital, wealth management, banking, consulting, or related industries.
  • Experience coordinating projects, events, webinars, or operational workflows.

A Note to Candidates

We recognize that talent comes from many backgrounds. If you're excited about this opportunity and believe you'd be successful in the role, we encourage you to apply-even if your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification listed above.
