Job description

Department: Community Relations

Reports To: Senior Vice President/Senior Community Relations Officer

Location: Taunton, MA


OVERVIEW:

The Community Relations Officer is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and execution of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation and the Bank’s community relations, involvement, and development efforts. This position serves as a key operational partner to the Senior Vice President/Senior Community Relations Officer and helps ensure departmental priorities, projects, and relationships are managed effectively and consistently.

This role involves extensive outreach with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, centers of influence, and community organizations to build and strengthen relationships, identify community needs, and seek opportunities for investment, support, and strategic partnership that align with the Bank’s mission and business objectives.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to support the Bank’s mission, maintain a high level of responsiveness, and ensure effective execution of departmental priorities.

  1. Lead the day-to-day operational management of the Community Relations department, ensuring departmental priorities, projects, communications, reporting, and follow-up activities are executed effectively and on schedule.
  1. Serve as a key deputy to the Senior Vice President/Senior Community Relations Officer by helping manage workflow, maintain continuity of operations, advance strategic initiatives, and resolve day-to-day issues independently and effectively.
  1. Oversee the administrative, budget, grantmaking, compliance, and reporting functions of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation, Inc. This includes preparation for foundation board meetings, grant processing, reporting, documentation, fund distributions, and administration of community funding through the online grant portal.
  1. Oversee the administration, tracking, and reporting of Bristol County Savings Bank volunteer activity through the YourCause platform. Serve as the Bank-wide liaison to promote employee volunteerism, support engagement initiatives, and ensure accurate reporting of community involvement.
  1. Execute and help refine the Community Outreach and Involvement strategies outlined in the Bank’s Community Investment Strategic Plan, ensuring initiatives are aligned with departmental goals, community impact objectives, and broader Bank strategy.
  1. Coordinate and, as appropriate, independently lead outreach with Executive Management, Senior Management, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, centers of influence, and community agencies to build and strengthen relationships, identify community needs, and pursue opportunities for investment, support, and strategic partnership. Help establish and sustain the Bank as a visible community leader and trusted resource across all market areas.
  1. Identify, develop, and help cultivate relationships with nonprofit organizations and other community-based entities that may lead to new customer relationships and contribute to the Bank’s strategic priorities.
  1. Partner with Retail, Business Development, Commercial, Cash Management, Wealth Management and other internal teams, as appropriate, to help transition community relationships into broader banking opportunities.
  1. Track, monitor, and report on key community relations activities, relationship development efforts, nonprofit pipeline opportunities, and other measures tied to departmental and strategic objectives.
  1. Represent and promote the Bank by taking an active and/or leadership role in community organizations, nonprofit initiatives, and civic partnerships in accordance with the Bank’s involvement guidelines.

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform related duties and special projects as required to support the Bank’s mission, departmental objectives, and strategic priorities.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in community relations, public relations, nonprofit management, marketing, banking, business development, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish, is highly desirable to foster inclusive engagement and build relationships within diverse communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills, are required. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with sound judgment, creativity, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The role requires the ability to align day-to-day decision-making and execution with executive management’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, stakeholders, and administrative processes with a high degree of independence and accountability is required. Prior experience supervising staff, leading cross-functional initiatives, or serving in a key operational support role is strongly preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building skills are required, including the ability to engage effectively with nonprofit leaders, community organizations, internal business partners, and centers of influence. Experience identifying opportunities that align community engagement with broader business development goals is preferred.
  • The individual must have access to reliable transportation, as this role requires frequent travel throughout the Bank’s market area. Attendance at evening and weekend meetings and events is required as needed.
