Position Overviewย 

Theย Community Relations and Events Managerย is an experiential marketing leader charged withย driving audience growth, brand performance, and community engagement across KSL's portfolio of business unitsย through partnerships,ย eventsย and brand experiences. This role overseesย an events teamย and serves multiple business units including television, radio, podcast,ย sportsย and online marketplaces.ย 

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Brand & Marketing, thisย manager serves as a key member of the marketing leadership team, workingย alongside creative directorsย and marketing managersย to strategize and execute the types ofย partnerships and events that will build KSLโ€™s brand and audience in the communityย ย 

This role also serves asย one of KSL's primary external relationship buildersย โ€” connecting the company's mission to the civic, charitable, and business organizations that matter most to our audience andย toย our brand.ย 

Note:ย Workย configurations are subject to change based on business needs andย atย company discretion.ย ย 

  • This position is aย hybridย role that requires the employee toย regularlyย workย atย our Salt Lake Cityย site. Specific hybrid schedules will beย determinedย based on business needs and evaluated byย managers.ย 

What Youย Will Do:ย ย 

Primaryย job duties will include, but are not limited to:ย ย 

Community Relationsย 

  • Serve as a representative of KSL at community events, fundraisers,ย civic meetings, board functions, and industry gatherings, reflecting the company's values and brand with consistency and purpose.ย 

  • Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, educationalย institutionsย and business leaders across Utah.ย 

  • Leverage community relationships to create partnership opportunities, co-branded campaigns, and activations that support KSL's marketing and businessย objectives.ย 

  • Plan and overseeย eventsย to make sure on-site communityย activationsย are smooth and reflect KSLย marketingย objectivesย and brand valuesย 

Events Managementย

  • Manage event budgets to ensure organizational ROI co-exists with exceptional community experiencesย 

  • Coordinate vendor and venue contracts and relationshipsย

  • Post-event reporting and analysisย 

Team Leadershipย 

  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and performance management forย community relations and event coordinatorsย 

  • Clearly delineate responsibilitiesย andย inspire career growth from the teamย 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally withย creative directors,ย marketing managers, and Salesย teams to integrate community initiatives into broader campaigns.ย

Skills and Experience We Are Looking Forย 

  • Bachelor's degree inย Events Management, Experienceย Marketing, Communications,ย Communityย Developmentย orย a relatedย field.ย 

  • 5+ย years of progressive experience inย communityย relations,ย events management,ย externalย affairsย or brand management โ€” preferably within a broadcast media, publishing, or large multi-platform media environment.ย 

  • 2+ years of directย people-managementย experience at a supervisory level.ย 

  • Demonstrated success building and managing partnerships with nonprofits, civic organizations, government entities, or corporate sponsors.ย 

  • Provenย track recordย of serving as an external representative in community-facing settings.ย 

  • Portfolioย of planned and executed events at both large and small scaleย 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, includingย experience drafting community-facing content.ย 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.ย 

  • High emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and the ability toย representย KSL's values across diverse audiences and settings.ย 

  • Comfortย operatingย in a fast-paced, news-driven environment where priorities can shift quickly.ย 

Physical Demandsย ย 

  • Receive, process, andย maintainย information through oral and/or written communication effectively.ย 

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills toย operateย computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.ย 

  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.ย 

  • Lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds on occasionย (especially in event management activities)ย 

Compensationย ย 

$75,000 - $95,000.ย Salary to beย determinedย by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.ย
