Come join our Rocket Ship and be part of Compass Datacenter's mission to make life better by providing the world's technology leaders with a secure place to plug-in wherever they grow. We provide custom, move-in ready data centers, from edge deployments to core facilities serving hyperscale, cloud and enterprise customers. At Compass we have our sights set on leaving a legacy imprint on the data center industry. By putting Culture first, we can show this not only produces results, but more importantly, can change lives.

The Community Relations Manager is Compass Datacenters' in-market issues and relationship professional, operating as the boots-on-the-ground extension of the VP, Community Relations across campus markets. This role builds and maintains the local stakeholder relationships that protect Compass's license to operate, supports in-market issues management, and leads planning and execution of Compass's Open House and Town Hall program in each market. The position requires regular travel to campus markets, a calm and composed presence under pressure, and the interpersonal credibility to represent Compass in a wide range of community and government settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with local stakeholders across assigned Compass markets, including county commissioners, city officials, AHJs, EDAs, adjacent landowners, and civic leaders, in support of the VP, Community Relations.
  • Support in-market issues management: provide on-the-ground stakeholder engagement, local intelligence, and direct relationship activation when community concerns, organized opposition, or local incidents arise.
  • Own planning and execution of Compass's Open House and Town Hall program in market, managing logistics, stakeholder invitations, materials coordination, and on-site presence across all active campus markets.
  • Support the VP, Community Relations in public proceedings, rezoning hearings, and community engagement events, including stakeholder preparation and on-site logistics.
  • Travel regularly to assigned campus markets to sustain active relationships, provide on-the-ground presence, and respond rapidly when issues require direct engagement.
  • Communicate market conditions, stakeholder sentiment, and emerging issues to the VP, Community Relations with accuracy and appropriate urgency, surfacing intelligence early.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications and Marketing when local issues or in-market events generate media or communications needs.

Skills and Experience:

  • 58 years of experience in community relations, public affairs, external affairs, government relations, or a closely related field.
  • Strong communicator: credible, clear, and composed in community and government settings across diverse audiences.
  • Calm under pressure; effective in adversarial or high-stakes community situations.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel to campus markets.
  • Organized and self-directed; capable of managing event logistics and stakeholder relationships independently in the field.
  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, real estate development, or a related sector preferred.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have 58 years' experience in community relations, public affairs, external affairs, or government relations.
  • Must be comfortable with frequent travel to assigned Compass campus markets.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Travel:

Regular travel required to assigned Compass campus markets.
