Position Summary:

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of low complexity and the incumbent performs them using precise instructions provided by his/her immediate supervisor or other team members.

Description of Duties:

  • Greets students and answers general inquiries about the University services and directs them to the appropriate triage area;

  • Helps with photocopying, filing, and data entry;

  • Answers telephones, provides general customer service (CHAT with students);

  • Assists with ID Card production;

  • Supports with some student activities and events, as needed, such as open house, and other student events.

  • The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Undergraduate student currently enrolled in Arts, Education, Engineering, Management, Music, Nursing or Science are welcome. General knowledge of the downtown campus and student life. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills - must be outgoing, willing to engage and initiate conversations with students. Involvement in the McGill community (clubs, services, athletics or other university activities) an asset. Customer service an asset. Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. Work study applicants, a requirement. Must provide proof of Work study acceptance (please attach under application.)
