Job description
The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Aaron Hood, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.
Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

This position serves as a Legal Analyst with the Office of Judicial and Attorney Regulation. The Office of Judicial and Attorney Regulation represents three agencies of the Indiana Supreme Court: (1) the Judicial Qualifications Commission, (2) the Judicial Nominating Commission, and (3) the Attorney Disciplinary Commission. The Judicial Qualifications Commission investigates and prosecutes claims of misconduct against Indiana judicial officers. The Judicial Nominating Commission reviews applications for the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Indiana Tax Court and interviews the applicants for these positions. The Attorney Disciplinary Commission investigates and prosecutes claims of misconduct against lawyers licensed to practice law in Indiana. The Paralegal supports the work of the Staff Attorneys, the Deputy Directors and the Executive Director for the Office of Judicial and Attorney Regulation. As the Legal Analyst for the Attorney Disciplinary Commission, the Legal Analyst assists with the management of reports from banks of overdrafts on trust accounts, maintains the approved bank depository list, and helps manage the non-cooperation cases. As the Legal Analyst for the Judicial Qualifications/Nominating Commissions, the Legal Analyst administers the case management system for the Judicial Qualifications, aids with the preparation of the agenda for the Judicial Qualifications meetings and supports the management of the applications for the Judicial Nominating Commission.
Performs paralegal and administrative support activities for Staff Attorneys, Deputy Directors, and the Executive Director for the Office of the Judicial and Attorney Regulation. The Legal Analyst assists the Office of Judicial and Attorney Regulation Staff Attorneys with duties, such as creating/maintaining spreadsheets, preparing subpoenas/notices/petitions, drafting correspondence, and preparing for cases.
Additional responsibilities for the Attorney Disciplinary Commission include, but are not limited to:
- Compile and organize exhibit binders for hearings and/or meetings
- Prepare Reciprocal Foreign Discipline Petitions
- Prepare Notice of Guilty Findings and Request for Suspension for filing
- Draft subpoenas and track to verify requested information has been received by deadline
- Track progress of all cases in Excel;
- Reviews trust account overdraft responses, close or request additional information
- Assist with trust account audits; recreate banking data in a spreadsheet and run reports
- Maintain and update approved trust account bank depository list
- Assist banks with application process, for addition to approved depository list
- Research and audit history of notifications regarding annual registration
- Prepare letters regarding attorney approval/denial annual registration late fee waiver
- Additional duties as assigned
Administration of Non-Cooperation Cases:
- Prepare filings and track mandatory responses by respondents for Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission notices and requests
- Prepare subsequent demand for response, for respondents not meeting deadline request
- Prepare filing petition for show cause, after Commission approved non-cooperation
- Verify if response was received, draft corresponding filing with the court
- Track progress of non-cooperation cases and file subsequent pleadings as needed
- Run a monthly report of non-cooperation, for subpoenas and grievances
Additional responsibilities for the Judicial Qualifications/Nominating Commissions include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the case management system for new complaints filed against judicial officers
- Updating the case management system with responses and any information received in an investigation
- Preparing appropriate letters as directed
- Aid with preparation of agendas for regular meetings of Judicial Qualifications/Nominating Commissions
- Aid with preparation of agendas for interview of Judicial Nominating Commission
- Answering telephone messages and email messages from complainants and judicial officers
- Directing messages to the appropriate Staff Attorney, Deputy Director, and/or Executive Director.
- Arranging catering for meetings and interviews
- Receive applications from applicants for Court of Appeals, Supreme Court, or Tax Court
- Organize applications from applicants
- Receive and manage applications for Senior judges
- Manage voicemail system specific to complaint form requests
