A Chef Store is a wholesale food and restaurant supply store that caters primarily to professional chefs, restaurant owners, and foodservice businesses. These stores offer a wide variety of bulk food items, kitchen equipment, and other supplies at competitive prices. Success in this environment requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and effective communication with both kitchen and store teams to meet customer expectations while maintaining operational efficiency.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Love great food? Love leading a team? Even better — love bagels?

As a Bagel Chef at PopUp Bagels, you’ll lead a team that’s passionate about making incredible food and creating an amazing guest experience. Our kitchens are scratch-based, fast-paced, and always evolving, and we’re looking for someone who brings energy, positivity, and leadership to the shop every day.

You’ll train and support your team, help keep the shop running smoothly, and make sure every bagel that leaves the kitchen is something we’re proud of. We’re big believers in teaching, learning, and growing together, so if you enjoy mentoring others and building a strong team culture, you’ll fit right in.

This role is perfect for someone who loves being part of the action, enjoys solving problems, and wants to help build something special.

About the Team

Our shops run on a team-first culture where everyone supports each other. As the Bagel Chef, you’ll lead the shop alongside the Bagel Sous and work closely with our Field Leadership team.

We believe great restaurants are built by great people, so we focus on creating an environment where teams can grow, learn new skills, and have fun doing it.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and support the daily operations of the shop
  • Train and motivate a great team
  • Work with the Bagel Sous to keep quality and standards high
  • Help keep the kitchen organized, efficient, and running smoothly
  • Jump in wherever needed — we’re all about teamwork
  • Interact with guests and create a welcoming experience
  • Help bring new ideas and improvements to the shop
  • Support hiring and developing new team members
What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to check every box — we care more about attitude and leadership than anything else.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have some kitchen or restaurant leadership experience
  • Love great food and hospitality
  • Enjoy coaching and supporting a team
  • Stay organized and positive in a busy environment
  • Are comfortable using technology and ordering systems
  • Like learning new things and improving every day
  • Have (or are willing to get) ServSafe or DOH certification

Bonus: You’re the type of leader who jumps in and helps wherever needed.

The Perks
  • No night shifts — early mornings only
  • Work with a passionate and growing team
  • Opportunities to grow with the company
  • Be part of a brand that’s redefining the bagel game

REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid Servsafe Certification

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Who We Are

PopUp Bagels started as a small backyard pickup window, sharing freshly baked bagels with friends. Since then, it’s grown into multiple locations — but our mission hasn’t changed:

Make the best, freshest bagels possible.

No shortcuts. Just a crispy crust, a soft center, the perfect size, and the right amount of seeds.

We’re proud winners of the Brooklyn Bagelfest “Best Bagel” award two years in a row, and we’re just getting started!
