Medical Assistant Supervisors provide leadership and oversight to all medical assistants and other direct reports. Performs the responsibilities of a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant as well as those appropriately delegated by their site director. With the nursing staff, medical assistant supervisors are responsible for flow management.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- The role will be a combination of administrative and clinical responsibilities; the exact breakdown will be determined by the health center operations (HCO) Director to best meet the needs of the site.
- Coordinates all hiring, onboarding, competencies, and continuing education based at the site for their direct reports. This includes ongoing needs assessments of training areas as well as ensuring current best practices are rolled out to the team.
- Collaborates with providers and nurses in the delivery of patient care. Assigns and monitors duties and responsibilities of Medical Assistants
- Performs regular scheduled performance evaluations and 1:1 meetings with direct reports. Fairly balances staff and clinic needs.
- Responsible for ensuring all documentation of lab reconciliation, logs, and controls are completed as scheduled and in compliance with Erie policy
- Ensures stocking of rooms, keeps inventory, and completes orders for medical supplies, equipment, and vaccines utilized in the assigned clinical area or site.
Education:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion of an official Clinical Medical Assistant program
- Completion of 160 hours of clinical MA externship OR
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Preferred:
- Associates degree, or additional education and/or training preferred.
- Certified or Registered by accredited agency strongly preferred
Experience:
Required:
- Four (4) years' experience as a Medical Assistant required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Two (2) or more years' experience supervising medical assistants required.
Preferred:
- At least one (1) year of MA experience at Erie is preferred.
- Team Leader experience at Erie a plus.
Skills and Knowledge:
Required:
- Ability to effectively assess new and existing staff skills and competencies, identify gaps and conduct necessary training.
- Ability to create/update standards that are measurable and objective and that can be used to track performance of medical assistant functions.
- Ability to utilize clinical systems, reports, and data to monitor effectiveness of staff, equipment, and processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with individuals and groups.
- Ability to multitask and maintain a high level of organization for each task.
- CPR certification - must always be current.
- Must have an understanding of Erie's Leadership Philosophy and exhibit appropriate behaviors.
- Strong EMR skills required.
- In good standing, above average annual review scores, good attendance
- Must participate in annual MA competencies as an evaluator.

- Proficient Microsoft Office skills preferred
