SUMMARY

The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to achieve company goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. This role plays a key part in planning production activities, supervising team members, and driving continuous improvement within the production environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing production systems and processes.
  • Plan, review, and adjust production schedules to meet customer demands and operational goals.
  • Estimate labor requirements and assign work to ensure timely completion of job assignments.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to effectively direct production activities.
  • Establish and adjust work procedures to improve efficiency and meet production deadlines.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues; provide guidance and support to team members.
  • Inspect products to ensure conformance to specifications and oversee machine setup and adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to implement plans, drive performance, and motivate employees to achieve goals.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to ensure smooth workflow and communication.
  • Assist with material planning, including estimating, requisitioning, and inspecting materials.
  • Support employee development through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Manage team schedules, including vacations and time off, to maintain proper coverage and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field or 3โ€“5 years of relevant manufacturing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, scheduling, and workflow coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS) preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and production or ERP systems (e.g., Epicor).
