Assistant Production Manager - CoreRoom

This position is located in Tell City, Indiana

ROLE:

Responsible for managing the daily coordination and operations of the Core Room to meet the facility's strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manages and mentors Production Supervisors and Core Room personnel.
  • Supervises shift personnel in the Core Room.
  • Authority to make decisions and resolve day-to-day issues involved in operations.
  • Deploy, implement, lead, and support daily meetings to coordinate with plant goals; (Daily Communication Meetings, Waupaca Way Level 4, 3 and 2 meetings, Management Review, Continuous Improvement, Scheduling Meetings, Daily Safety Review, Monthly Safety Meetings etc.).
  • Develop systems and programs that continuously improve safety and productivity performance to meet Plant goals.
  • Formulate procedures and policies to improve production systems and processes.
  • Assist Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager with all initiatives and goals.
  • Manage Production Teams by leading, instructing, guiding, and enforcing procedures and policies. 
  • Appropriately and promptly address, communicate and/or resolve safety, production and quality concerns
  • Deploy, and implement daily and weekly production meetings and schedules
  • Deploy, implement and lead production staffing meetings and strategies
  • In conjunction with Plant HR appropriately and promptly address, communicate and/or resolve Production personnel issues and concerns
  • Formulate procedures and policies to improve the 6S activities of the Plant Production areas
  • Communicate and coordinate Plant Production Schedules with the Customer Service, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering Departments
  • Support in the installation of continuous improvement projects in the areas of Process Controls, Quality and Productivity improvements and Work Place Organization/Standardization
  • Support the Department Training Group in the installation of improved training processes, procedures and methods.

Preferred Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Associates Degree or actively pursuing a degree in a field, which is deemed relevant to the position, or relevant work experience in operations
  • Foundry/Leadership training
  • Kaizen training
  • Must acquire general knowledge and exposure to all operations of the plant (Melt, Core, VMM, Millroom, and Maintenance)
  • Must acquire knowledge of safety policies/procedures for the department
  • A working knowledge of the ISO/TS standards as necessary
