What is an app?

An App job typically involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mobile or web applications. Responsibilities can vary based on the role, such as app developer, designer, or product manager. Developers write code, debug issues, and ensure the app runs smoothly across different devices and platforms. Designers focus on user experience and interface design, while product managers oversee the app's strategy and requirements. The role requires technical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an app developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Application Developer, you need strong programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and a relevant degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript, as well as experience with development frameworks and version control systems such as Git, is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication help developers collaborate, troubleshoot, and deliver user-friendly solutions. These skills ensure the creation of robust, secure, and efficient applications that meet both user and business needs.

What are some of the common challenges faced when working as a mobile app developer, and how can they be addressed?

Mobile app developers often face challenges such as staying updated with rapidly changing technologies, ensuring cross-platform compatibility, and maintaining app performance across various devices. To address these, developers should regularly engage in professional development, utilize tools like cross-platform frameworks (e.g., React Native or Flutter), and conduct thorough testing on multiple devices. Collaboration with designers, QA testers, and product managers is also crucial to ensure a smooth development process and timely delivery.

Job description

About the Role

Join Asset Performance Partners and build an engineering career that goes beyond a traditional plant-based role.

As an Engineer at Asset Performance Partners, you will work across multiple industries, plants and equipment types, solving real reliability, maintenance and asset-performance challenges.

You will broaden your engineering capability across technical reliability, digital tools, data-driven engineering and consulting, while seeing your work translate into measurable improvements in equipment and plant performance.

At APP, engineers are encouraged to think, challenge, solve and take ownership. As your capability grows, so will your responsibility, autonomy and client exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Support & Troubleshooting: Assist in inspecting, diagnosing, and servicing complex mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, hydraulics) and electrical equipment on client sites.
  • Power Distribution & Controls: Support commissioning and maintenance tasks on power delivery equipment, switchgear, motors, and control panels under expert supervision.
  • Reliability & Continuous Improvement: Collect operational data, analyze equipment failure trends, and help implement predictive maintenance strategies to boost asset longevity.
  • Customer Interaction: Serve as a primary technical contact on-site, documenting service reports, explaining root-cause findings, and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to field safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical hazard guidelines, and site-specific rules.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Education: Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Power Engineering.
  • Foundational Knowledge: Solid understanding of basic electrical circuits, mechanical principles, and high-level power systems.
  • Mindset: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, eager to learn across multiple engineering disciplines, and a hands-on approach.
  • Logistics: Willingness to travel to client sites and a valid driver's license.

Benefits

What We Offer

  • Structured mentorship and hands-on training across multiple engineering domains.
  • Clear career progression paths toward Senior Field Service or Reliability Engineering roles.
  • Competitive graduate starting salary, travel allowances, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
