Job description

Lock Desk Analyst

Must be located in San Diego, CA

Do you thrive in a role where market movement keeps every day different?

Are you the kind of person who catches the detail everyone else misses when the numbers are moving fast?

Do you take pride in being accurate, responsive, and steady when the pressure is on?

If you answered yes, we want to talk to you.

About Griffin Funding

Griffin Funding is a full-service mortgage lender licensed across the U.S. and committed to making homeownership more accessible. We're a Non-QM, VA, FHA, and CONV Lender with a reputation for speed, service, and doing right by our borrowers. Our team is performance-driven, collaborative, and growing, and we're looking for people who want to grow with us.

About the Role

The Lock Desk Analyst sits at the center of loan profitability. You review and verify price quotes and lock requests, register loans with your investors, and make sure every lock is entered accurately and confirmed to the right people. It's a role built around variables that never stop moving: market shifts, volume, loan characteristics that affect price, and investor requirements. That means the work is fast-paced, deadline-driven, and different every day. When you get it right, it protects the margin on every file that comes through.

A Day in the Life

Morning

You start with the market. Rate sheets come in, pricing moves, and lock requests from your loan officers are waiting. You review and verify each one, confirm pricing in Optimal Blue, lock the loans, and issue confirmations to the right parties. Early questions from sales and operations start coming in, and you're the person they turn to for a clear answer on lock policy.

Afternoon

The pace holds. You're handling lock extensions, working through loan restructures that change pricing, and keeping the secondary tab and lock confirmations current in LendingPad throughout the life of each loan. You register loans with investors, audit locks for accuracy, and stay in close contact with your investor reps as pricing and guidelines shift, communicating any lock changes and keeping those relationships strong.

Major Goals and Responsibilities

Locking and Confirmations

  • Review, verify, and lock incoming LO lock requests
  • Register loans with investors and issue confirmations to the appropriate parties
  • Enter lock request and confirmation information accurately and efficiently into the LOS

Managing the Pipeline

  • Extend locks and assist in loan restructures
  • Keep the secondary tab and lock confirmations in LendingPad updated throughout the life of the loan
  • Update Optimal Blue throughout the process
  • Audit locks for accuracy

Communication and Investor Relationships

  • Serve as the resource for lock policy questions from sales and operations
  • Build and maintain investor relationships, communicating lock changes and building rapport
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company, depending on operational needs and changes

Key Characteristics

Accurate under pressure. You hold precision even when the market is moving and the requests are stacking up.

Comfortable with change. Market movement, volume swings, and shifting investor requirements energize you rather than throw you off.

Detail-driven. You catch the discrepancy before it becomes a problem, and you double-check the things that matter.

A clear communicator. You're the bridge between sales, operations, and investors, and people trust the answers you give.

Quick to learn new tools. You pick up and adapt to evolving technology platforms without missing a step.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of mortgage experience (lock desk experience preferred)
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving technology platforms (Optimal Blue and LendingPad experience a plus)
  • A track record of building and keeping strong investor relationships
  • Located in San Diego, CA

This role is offered at the Analyst I or II level depending on experience.

Career Path

The Lock Desk Analyst role is a foundation for a career in secondary marketing. As you build depth on pricing, investor relationships, and lock policy, there's room to grow from Analyst I to Analyst II and toward senior secondary and lock desk leadership roles. Growth here is driven by your performance and your appetite to take on more.

Job Requirements

Griffin Funding, provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. In addition to federal law requirements, Griffin Funding, complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location in which the company has facilities.
