Job description

Smithville Communications is seeking a strategic, business-minded Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to partner with executive leadership and drive enterprise-wide financial insight, planning, and decision support. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role directly supervises two Financial Analysts, leads the FP&A function, supports long-term strategy, and translates complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations that strengthen business performance. This role is 100% onsite at our Headquarters in Ellettsville, Indiana.

  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data integrity, alignment, and sound assumptions
  • Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to senior leadership and ownership on financial performance, KPIs, and variance drivers to move the business forward
  • Serve as a trusted finance business partner to leaders across the organization
  • Lead and develop a team of Financial Analysts through coaching, goal-setting, and performance management
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses
  • Oversee the preparation of management reporting and performance dashboards
  • Support investment analysis, capital planning, and business case development
  • Drive special projects to improve efficiency, analytics, and decision-making
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial modeling, and business analysis
  • Demonstrated experience providing financial guidance and recommendations to C-suite leaders and company ownership
  • Commercial acumen and a strategic, business-partnering approach
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling expertise
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) and FP&A tools (e.g., Anaplan, Hyperion, Adaptive Insights)
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights at all levels
  • Excellent communication and strong ability to present analysis and recommendations to Senior Leadership and ownership
  • High attention to detail with a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset
