TEAM DESCRIPTION

The Data Operations team provides oversight of the data generated throughout the campaign delivery and performance optimization throughout its lifecycle.ย  They will also work with other internal practice teams of Digital Analytics, Planning, and Digital Investment. You will provide oversight of all digital media buys to ensure that they are following process, purchased, and inputted according to organizational standards. This role requires a strong familiarity with all available analytics and technology tools, both syndicated and proprietary.ย  Candidate must have a mindset towards fostering processes through automation.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Director, Data Operations, will work with the Executive Director, Data Operations and SVP, Data Operations to guide the development and on-going operation of business intelligence tools/technologies, technical solutions, and data governance processes. The role requires a strong familiarity with common media analytics and technology tools, both syndicated and proprietary. The ideal candidate must be able to proactively communicate ideas and opportunities, build strong relationships with internal and external partners, and grow the data operations practice for North America offices. The candidate must have a mindset towards fostering processes through automation, as well as establishing data as the backbone of other media disciplines.

ย JOB DESCRIPTIOIN

ย Administrative & Departmental Development

  • Works with OMG SVP, Head of Data Ops, PHD Executive Director, Head of Data Ops, Chief Analytics Officer and executive team to establish agency-level standard Data Operations practices and thought leadership. Oversees application of such standards across all Ptarmigan accounts
  • Participates in business pitches. Serves as the subject matter expert on data operations and business intelligence topics and their potential applications to address client business needs
  • Writes client statement of work (SOW) and/or service-line agreements (SLA) during contract negotiations, re-negotiations and/or renewals
  • Works with Ptarmigan finance, OMG and Annalect India leadership to establish resource rate cards, platform costs and various business engagement requirements
  • Staffing accounts according to client business requirements and anticipates future needs. Interviews and hires new employees
  • Serves as the escalation contact to address critical business issues and have tough conversations with internal teams and clients. Supports development of short-term plans to prioritize needs and resolve urgent issues
  • Constantly analyze employee time utilization to minimize over-burns and ensure employee hours are properly scoped to the right projects
  • Periodically evaluates and re-evaluates new and existing business intelligence tools/platforms to ensure they meet the changing requirements of media data and organizational best practices

Data Management & Strategy

  • Establishes departmental data strategy and data solutions. Defines standards and best practices for data ingestion, data harmonization, data storage, data governance and dashboard visualization
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for projects relating to data quality and business rules. Demands best practices are being followed by onshore and offshore data teams amongst all projects
  • Collaborate with Media/Ad Ops to establish agency taxonomy naming convention standards, adoption strategy and execution workflow. Actively promote the use of technology to standardize taxonomy creation and implementation
  • Leads and manage cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to understand complex data issues involving multiple systems, establish priorities, develop improvement plans, allocate resources, and implement solutions
  • Works with and promotes the adoption of new and existing in-house media Data Operations tools and processes
  • Keeps up to date on digital operations - buy changes, creative specifications, etc.

Data Governance & Documentation

  • Leads the development of a comprehensive departmental data management and integrity program, including being accountable on cross-account adoption of a coordinated governance process
  • Provides consultation for junior employees to ensure industry data standards are appropriately utilized and leveraged to drive data quality and compliance and to ensure impact is minimized, mitigated appropriately
  • Drives cross-discipline documentation process and create standardization for validating the implementation, optimization, and reconciliation of all campaign data
  • Oversees documentation of processes, workflows, and technical implementations of any project. Proactively identifies, proposes, and generates targeted solutions for data quality issues and operational inefficiencies

People & Project Management

  • Supervise Directors and Managers to perform data operations, data quality assurance and client management tasks. Provides guidance to team members and nurtures/promotes team environment
  • Accountable for growth of direct reports. Tailor client-, agency- and personal goals to develop and emphasize strengths of each direct report
  • Acts as liaison between Ptarmigan internal team leads, onshore and offshore data operations teams to improve the collaboration process for validating the implementation, optimization, and reconciliation of all campaign data
  • Fosters positive relationships and works with internal teams (Client Business Lead, Strategy, Digital Investment, Programmatic, Search, Social)
  • Communication of roles, responsibilities and expectations in an effective manner and clear department RACIs
  • Creates and manages project timelines and tasks in project management tools such as HIVE and Microsoft Teams. Develops effective project plans for new implementation and change logs for on-going data and account management

Account Data Ops Leadership

  • Will be the Data Ops lead across several accounts, providing leadership, data management, data accuracy and opportunity identification
  • Accountable to the team leadership and requirements to drive improvement and growth on the accounts
  • Working with more junior team members to facilitate the timely delivery of accurate, quality, usable, and accessible data for various performance use cases

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in data operations and/or business intelligence
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in advertising agency
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in digital media data (Ad Server, digital, search, social, video, offline, etc.)
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in an agile development environment
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in management role
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in client facing work
  • Experience managing offshore team a big bonus
