What the Digital Marketing Specialist Does

The Digital Marketing Specialist collaborates closely with the Marketing Director to support APAA's advertising and marketing initiatives. This role plays a key part in visual storytelling through photography, videography, and multimedia production, ensuring all content reflects a consistent and engaging brand presence.


The Specialist is responsible for capturing, producing, editing, and optimizing photo and video content, managing social media channels, and supporting campaign execution across digital platforms. This includes hands-on work with cameras, lighting, editing software, and publishing tools to create compelling, auction-driven marketing content that increases visibility, engagement, and sales.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Capture high-quality photography and videography of inventory, events, team members, and behind-the-scenes operations to support marketing efforts.
  • Plan, shoot, and produce video content tailored for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and email campaigns.
  • Edit multimedia content, including photo retouching, video editing, audio balancing, color correction, and formatting for various platforms.
  • Develop engaging social media content, including reels, stories, posts, and short-form videos that align with APAA's brand voice.
  • Manage and execute social media publishing, including scheduling, posting, monitoring engagement, and responding as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director on campaign strategy, ensuring multimedia content supports marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Maintain and execute social media calendars, ensuring consistency, timeliness, and alignment with auction schedules.
  • Analyze content and campaign performance using analytics tools and adjust strategies to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Design compelling digital assets that promote auctions, events, and brand awareness.
  • Identify trends in social media, photography, and video to keep APAA's content fresh, relevant, and competitive.
  • Research and capitalize on market opportunities, holidays, special events, and anniversaries to increase visibility and profitability.
  • Suggest and implement new strategies for attracting prospective customers, including promotions, competitions, and campaigns.
  • Support marketing and sales objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertisements; participate in presentations and trade shows as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments to gather content and ensure accurate representation of inventory and services.
  • Maintain organization of digital assets, including file management, storage, and accessibility for marketing use.

  • Strong proficiency with Dropbox, CRM tools, analytics platforms, Google AdWords, and similar applications.
  • Proven experience in marketing and social media roles.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, multitasking ability, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of marketing principles with excellent customer engagement skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused.
  • Strong knowledge of market research techniques and industry databases.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive data appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in marketing, business, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Experience in online marketing and social media strategy.
  • Demonstrated success designing interactive applications or networking platforms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace applications.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background and reference check.


Working Environment

APAA is a locally grown and Alaskan-owned small business operating in a fast-paced environment requiring regular attendance, adaptability, and multitasking across overlapping responsibilities. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (8-hour shift + 1-hour unpaid break)
