Job Description
This position is instrumental in enhancing alumni engagement, strengthening relationships, and supporting the broader mission of the University. The Regional Alumni Relations Coordinator will play a key role in initiating, leading, and executing alumni engagement strategies and volunteer recruitment-primarily in the National Capital Region and other designated areas, as identified by the Executive Director. This position is responsible for cultivating alumni interest, building meaningful connections, and generating a strong referral pipeline for philanthropic support.
The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing regional and campus-based alumni programs that foster meaningful and lasting connections with graduates. It involves cultivating alumni engagement and volunteerism to support university initiatives and regional outreach efforts. The role requires the use of independent judgment to plan and lead regional programs and volunteer initiatives. As the primary alumni relations representative in the assigned region, the individual will have decision-making authority for local programming and volunteer coordination. Additionally, the position serves as both writer and editor for alumni communications, including print and digital materials. The role also requires the ability and willingness to travel frequently, as it involves regular duties away from the primary office location.
Required Qualifications
Education, training or experience in Marketing, Communications, or related field and demonstrated experience in alumni or public relations, volunteer management, event planning, marketing, or project coordination. Excellent communication skills; ability to travel periodically; availability to work on weekends and/or extended hours as necessary; ability to handle multiple tasks and projects; capability of managing and motivating volunteers; commitment to role of alumni for benefit of Radford University; and interest in people from varied backgrounds and occupations.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
-Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
-Experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, fundraising, or related fields is preferred.
