ECU College of Engineering and Technology is currently seeking an Industry/Alumni Relations & Student Professional Development Assistant.

Position Summary
The College of Engineering and Technology is seeking a motivated and professional graduate student to support the Director of Industry and Alumni Relations. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in employer relations, alumni engagement, career development, event management, marketing, and higher education administration while working closely with students, alumni, faculty, and industry partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Industry & Alumni Engagement
  • Assist with outreach to industry partners and alumni through email, phone, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
  • Support relationship-building efforts with employers and alumni to increase engagement with the College.
  • Help coordinate follow-up communications and partnership activities.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Maintain accurate records within the College's CRM system.
  • Enter and update company, alumni, and meeting information.
  • Generate reports and assist with data analysis to support strategic initiatives.
Student Professional Development
  • Assist students with resume reviews and basic interview preparation.
  • Provide guidance on internship and job search strategies.
  • Help promote career readiness programs and employment opportunities.
Events & Employer Engagement
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing career fairs, employer information sessions, networking events, advisory council meetings, and other College events.
  • Support employer visits by preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and assisting during events.
  • Internship & Employment Tracking
  • Assist with tracking student internships, co-ops, and employment outcomes.
  • Help collect internship/employment data for reporting and metric tracking purposes.
Office & Administrative Support
  • Welcome and assist visitors to the College of Engineering and Technology.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to general inquiries.
  • Prepare documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and correspondence.
  • Perform general office duties, including but not limited to filing, copying, scheduling, and running occasional campus errands in support of College activities.

The graduate student will work closely with the Director of Industry Relations and gain broad exposure to corporate engagement, student success initiatives, and strategic partnership development within the College of Engineering and Technology.
Expected availability 20 hours/week

GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.0 Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at East Carolina University.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working independently.
  • Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with CRM software or database management is preferred.
  • Experience with event planning, communications, or customer relationship management is a plus.
  • Graphic design, Video editing, Canva, photography, or content creation experience is beneficial but not required.
