Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

The Student Assistant will work closely with the Staff of Alumni and Parent Relations to support programming and events. This position will assist with volunteer recruitment and management, event planning, data entry, prospect research, and the annual Viking Update (a 50th reunion yearbook). The Student Assistant will also provide support for general office duties and signature events (Homecoming, Reunion, and Alumni Awards).

Transferable Skills: 

Data management, prospect research, organizational skills, problem solving, time management, customer service, hospitality skills, event management and computer programs including: Raiser's Edge, WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, AlumnIQ (registration platform), ASANA (project management tool), Wufoo, and Photoshop

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Chapter, Office & Event Related Responsibilities

Office support with email, phone and other tasks as assigned. Research and analyze prospective volunteer records using Raiser's Edge. Assemble event packages and thank you notes to volunteers around the country. Manage event registration and record keeping using AlumnIQ registration platform. Write and mail cards to new Ole parents. Attend local events and provide event support on-site.

Viking Update Responsibilities

Includes editing 350-word biographies submitted by alumni in accordance with the college style guide while still respecting the author's voice for the 50th reunion Viking Update, working with Viking Update design specialist to prepare final copy for print, including individual biographies, cover pages, "In Remembrance" section, and class lists.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

Must be a current St. Olaf student, preferably intending to remain in this position during their time at St. Olaf. Preferably have strong research, writing and editing, and phone skills.
