To thrive as an Agency Recruiter, you need strong interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of recruitment best practices, and typically a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field. What is an agency recruiter?

Agency recruiters are professionals who work for recruitment agencies to help companies find and hire suitable candidates for open positions. They act as intermediaries between employers and job seekers, sourcing, screening, and recommending candidates for various roles. Agency recruiters often work on multiple job openings for different clients and may specialize in specific industries or job functions. Their goal is to match the right talent with the right job, ensuring a good fit for both parties.

Both roles require strong recruiting skills, but their work environments and focus differ significantly.

How does an agency recruiter typically balance managing multiple client accounts and candidate searches?

Agency recruiters often juggle several client accounts and active candidate searches simultaneously, which requires strong organizational and time-management skills. They typically prioritize roles based on urgency, client expectations, and potential placement success. Regular communication with both clients and candidates, use of applicant tracking systems, and collaboration with fellow recruiters help manage workload efficiently. Adapting to shifting priorities and maintaining a proactive approach are key to success in this fast-paced environment.

  • Conduct consultative conversations with clients to intake detailed job orders and uncover hiring needs
  • Develop strong client relationships through onsite visits, client meetings, and approved business development activities
  • Negotiate salary offers and fee structures while balancing candidate expectations and client profitability
  • Achieve and exceed sales quotas and production goals
Candidate Management & Delivery
  • "Play matchmaker" by aligning candidate experience, motivation, and skill sets with client needs
  • Prepare candidates thoroughly for interviews and conduct post-interview debriefs
  • Maintain accurate and detailed candidate records, notes, and summaries
Market Awareness & Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current on Finance & Accounting industry trends, hiring patterns, and competitive market conditions
  • Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
  • 1-4+ years of experience in recruiting, staffing, sales, or another performance-driven environment, with a demonstrated track record of achieving goals and delivering results
  • Strong sales and relationship-building mindset with the ability to develop business, engage talent, and build credibility with candidates, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Highly motivated, resilient, and coachable professional who thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments and takes ownership of outcomes
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and consultative selling skills, with experience developing solutions, proposals, and strategies to meet business needs
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to commute to and work onsite in our Boston office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
