Job description

Seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to oversee all accounting functions for a growing portfolio of retail stores throughout Florida. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting, and managing day‑to‑day accounting operations across multiple store locations.


The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing multi‑store financial activity, reconciliations, and complex payment applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

Daily & Weekly Accounting Operations

  • Manage all accounting functions for a multi‑unit retail portfolio.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger across multiple store entities.
  • Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment.
  • Record payments accurately, including partial payments, overpayments, and payments covering multiple bills.

 

Reconciliations

  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
  • Investigate discrepancies, missing transactions, or duplicate entries.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve outstanding credits or balances.

 

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Generate store‑level and consolidated financial reports for ownership.
  • Track and report on key financial metrics, including COGS, labor, and operating expenses.

 

Multi‑Store Support

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for each store location.
  • Support store managers with invoice questions, payment status, and purchasing accuracy.
  • Ensure consistency in accounting processes across all stores.

 

Compliance & Controls

  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to retail liquor operations.
  • Assist with year‑end reporting and coordination with external accountants.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (required) - including multi‑entity management.
  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience; retail or multi‑unit experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations, payment applications, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage high transaction volume with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with store leadership.
