AV Concepts is a full service event production company with a long history in corporate, association, trade show, exhibit, staging and properties.
Position Overview
The Strategic Account Director plays a key role in driving growth by building strong new client relationships and expanding existing partnerships. Success in this role comes from proactive outreach, including cold engagement and networking with clients, prospects, and industry groups to consistently exceed sales goals.
Through discovery, you will qualify and prioritize opportunities by uncovering each contact's concept for a successful event(s). Prepare customized, detailed, and accurate proposals; and close a high percentage of proposed business. The focus of the Strategic Account Director is to drive new and repeat business by persuasively communicating AV Concepts' offerings and unique value propositions to key decision-makers from within various sectors.
This position can be based in Tempe/Phoenix (corporate office) or performed remotely. In this role, you will help shape and define our approach to identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities. You will report directly to the Division Director of Business Development.
As a Strategic Account Director, you will
  • Build and grow relationships with senior decision makers.
  • Lead the full sales process - from finding new prospects to building proposals and closing multi-year agreements.
  • Research target accounts and develop prospecting campaigns.
  • Bring fresh ideas, industry insights, and creative solutions to every opportunity.
  • Create proposals that meet each client's expectations and requirements while also driving profit margins at or above company expectations.
  • Grow portfolio annually to develop long-term repeatable revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Partner with warehouse, operations, and accounting to ensure proper execution of internal processes for pre and post-show close.
  • Use our CRM (Zoho) to track your activity, manage your pipeline, and forecast revenue. Conduct market research and analyze industry trends to identify potential sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with all internal departments and individuals to deliver the highest level of profitability on every event.
  • Attend conferences, tradeshows, and industry events to build new connections monthly.
  • Travels on-site for key events to ensure top client satisfaction through face-to-face interaction. Travel is flexible!

About you
  • The ideal candidate has 5+ years of consulting sales experience in a technical industry.
  • Strong understanding of the AV and staging industry with at least three years' experience working directly with audiovisual equipment in general sessions and breakout rooms for events with at least 1,000 attendees in both the high-end corporate event and convention services segments.
  • Proven and consistent success in directly developing positive client relationships and in achieving exceptional client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Comfortable building relationships with executives and decision makers.
  • Demonstrated sales experience in meeting targeted goals by identifying leads, outreach, closing deals, and nurturing relationships.
  • Strong communicator - in writing, in person, and in presentations. Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, understand clients' perspective and demonstrate excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
