Vice President, Operations

Enjet Aero machines and fabricates complex jet engine parts, components and assemblies for leading OEMs in the commercial, defense and general aviation sectors. MISSION:

The VPO will drive world class production operations and efficiency across all Enjet sites. This person will exemplify high performance culture, advocate for positive change and improvement, and use metrics to measure performance. The VPO will report to the COO.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

To achieve the mission for this position, the VPO must produce the following critical actions and results:

1. Culture: The VPO will embody and drive the Enjet culture: high performance, extremely data driven, and process oriented.
2. CI & Process Improvement: Continuous improvement and process improvement by re-engineering processes to eliminate time, steps, and setups, as well as investment in new work cells and automation. The VPO will partner with the VP of Manufacturing, in a complimentary role driving CI and Process Improvement in the operations.
3. Production and Delivery Performance: The VPO will be tasked with anticipating what’s coming ahead, and helping the President at each site to manage production and delivery performance by adding new shifts, making changes to the facility layout, and other efforts to reduce waste and improve throughput.
4. Management of Capacity and Load: The VPO will manage overall capacity and load across the entire company, driving to 24/7 production on the highest volume / highest labor parts across all sites, and will identify opportunities for in-sourcing of parts and then ensure they are produced and delivered between sites on-time.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will have the following education, work history, knowledge and skills.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required; mechanical engineering or industrial engineering is preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of increasing responsibility in Operations Management in an aerospace/defense manufacturing environment.

• At least 5 years as a senior executive in a multi-site operation is required, preferably at a larger company in a matrixed environment – the ideal candidate will “know what great looks like.”
• Aero engine experience is ideal but not required. Candidates with experience in precision machined components or aerostructures will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience in Lean is required. The ideal candidate will be able to cite numerous improvements they have made to their businesses with real dollar savings as support.
• Experience driving automation is required.
• Supply chain and purchasing experience or demonstrated experience driving cost savings in such areas is required.

Knowledge and skills:

• Strong technical skills are required. Candidates must have the ability to utilize software, manipulate data, and report on their own, without the help of others.
• Superior communicator and motivator. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Influencing ability with the ability to lead through others.
