Assistant Director of Curriculum

The Assistant Director, a physician reporting to the Senior Director of Curriculum, is responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and assessment of clinical faculty who contribute to ScholarRx curricular products. The Assistant Director works with the Senior Director to design, develop and evaluate ScholarRx’s medical curricular and assessment offerings and makes proposed changes and additions congruent with national/international trends in medical education. They actively participate in the management and online meetings with the curricular and content editorial departments. This position is half-time to full-time and fully remote, with the exception that occasional in-person meetings may be required.

 

Responsibilities

· Recruit, train, assess, and supervise editors and authors in their work with ScholarRx curricular content.

· Work with the Senior Director of Curriculum to co-design and develop ScholarRx medical education content offerings.

· Oversee production and quality control related to medical curricular and assessment resources.

· Collaborate with other ScholarRx divisions/departments to enhance medical curricular offerings.

· Serve on the editorial board to address user feedback regarding medical curricular content.

· Develop and offer faculty development sessions for faculty at schools that adopt ScholarRx products, helping these faculty to integrate the products into their curriculum.

 

Requirements

· MD, DO, or equivalent degree.

· At least five years of significant teaching experience at a medical school or related university setting

 

Preferred

· Significant undergraduate medical education and clerkship teaching experience

· Course Director and/or Clerkship Director experience

· Faculty development experience in medical education

· Leadership experience in local, regional, or national medical education

· Objective question item design experience (NBME training preferred)

· Instructional design and education technology experience

 

Qualities/Skills

The major key skills of the Assistant Director will be the ability to identify and train superb faculty to ensure that ScholarRx clinical curriculum is high-quality and relevant to learners and educations at varied medical institutions. This individual will maintain a global knowledge of trends in medical education that should inform ScholarRx product design. Along with these skills, the Assistant Director should also exhibit:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in remote work settings.

• Thorough understanding of the pedagogy and content of medical education

• Fluency with medical/scientific writing.

• Expert listening skills.

• Ability to recruit and manage a team of contracted faculty.

• Ability to manage time effectively.

• Ability to motivate, develop, train, and direct people.
