Summary

Manages a variety of aspects of the finishing process including color development, paint preparation, inventory and purchasing.  Prepares and manages formulas for use during production.  Manages inventory of color bases and tints.  Assist production with quality control procedures and maintenance activities. 

Essential duties, responsibilities and accountabilities

• Color Matching
  • Use color matching software and utilize color matching theory to match colors in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Create paint formulas and maintain database for future cross reference
  • Spray color samples for customer approval
  • Prepare formulas and enter specifications into the ERP.  
  • Work closely with sales and customer service employees, schedule and communicate color matches.
• Inventory Management / Purchasing
  • Manage the inventory of color bases and purchase paint from approved vendors
  • Purchase shop supplies
  • Maintain good vendor relationships
  • Keep MRP / ERP up to date with accurate inventory levels and costs.  Perform year end inventory functions.
• Quality Control
  • Assist production with troubleshooting of quality or maintenance issues.
  • Work with Operations team to ensure equipment maintenance and safety procedures are followed.
  • Clean and maintain equipment after use.

Education and Experience Requiements

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Experience using an ERP or MRP
• Relevant experience in a manufacturing or finishing industry.  
• Strong organizational, communication skills, self-motivated or driven.
• Knowledge of paint and/or paint equipment in an industrial or automotive setting is preferred, but not required.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles or other critical thinking methods is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, or have reasonable mobility to use tools and equipment
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds periodically throughout the day.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
