Job Summary:

As a Daycare Center Director, you will be responsible for the overall management and operations of the daycare facility. Your primary objective is to create a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children, ensuring their well-being, development, and happiness. This role involves overseeing staff, implementing curriculum, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance with licensing regulations.

Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership:

  • Exercises strategic organizational leadership, aligning actions with the mission of Your Child and Mine.

  • Inspires confidence and respect among staff, parents, and community leaders.

  • Focuses energy on high-priority tasks and continually seeks improvement opportunities.

  • Maintains composure during stress, demonstrating a good sense of humor and problem-solving initiative.

  • Develops and implements crisis management plans as necessary.

  • Cultivates positive working relationships, emphasizing teamwork and effective communication.

  • Creates an inviting environment for both staff and children.

Staff Management:

  • Supervises and provides routine feedback on staff performance.

  • Sets clear expectations and keeps staff well-informed about center policies and updates.

  • Responds promptly to employee concerns, encouraging suggestions and innovative ideas.

  • Consistently and fairly enforces center policies, ensuring proper adult-child ratios are maintained.

  • Facilitates conflict resolution among staff members.

  • Seeks Executive Director’s approval for hiring Lead Teacher or terminating staff.

  • Observes staff routinely and conducts performance appraisals regularly.

Staff Development:

  • Implements an organized approach to recruiting, hiring, and orienting new staff.

  • Supports ongoing professional development to maintain the current Keystone Star level.

  • Delegates meaningful tasks, acts as a great coach, and fosters employee growth.

  • Conducts monthly staff meetings and regular classroom team meetings.

  • Seeks Executive Director’s approval for hiring Lead Teacher or terminating staff.

  • Observes staff routinely and conducts performance appraisals regularly.

Program Management:

  • Ensures completeness and currency of all records and files.

  • Provides information to prospective families and conducts intake meetings.

  • Ensures compliance with licensing and accreditation standards and regulations.

  • Monitors enrollment statistics for effective planning and oversees facility maintenance.

  • Seeks Executive Director’s approval for monthly spending exceeding $250.00.

  • Maintains a safe, sanitary, and uncluttered environment.

  • Regularly inspects classrooms and playground equipment for safety hazards.

  • Submits required reports to the Executive Director promptly.

Curriculum Development:

  • Develops and implements a curriculum meeting the needs of individual children and age groups.

  • Ensures staff adherence to designated curriculum and approved child guidance strategies.

  • Models positive discipline techniques and maintains a safe, clean, and inviting environment.

  • Reviews weekly lesson plans and provides feedback to lead teachers.

  • Serves as a resource for activity development supporting growth and learning.

Children and Family Relations:

  • Supports the smooth transition of families into the program.

  • Knows families and fosters a welcoming and involved atmosphere.

  • Maintains confidentiality and responds promptly to family concerns.

  • Facilitates parent-teacher conferences and serves as a mandated reporter to DPW when necessary.

  • Enforces center policies consistently and fairly and resolves conflicts between families and staff.

Marketing and Public Relations:

  • Effectively recruits children and maintains enrollment.

  • Shapes the center’s positive image through communication, inquiries, tours, and materials.

  • Acts as a community resource on matters concerning children and families.

  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for early care and education, staying informed about relevant legislation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Previous experience in a daycare or childcare management role.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Knowledge of state licensing regulations and early childhood education standards.

Job Type: Full-time/ Monday- Friday

Compensation: $50,000- $55,000 annual salary
