Duties and Responsibilities
1. The Senior Center Executive Director will provide leadership and develop the overall annual work plan of the Senior Center in accordance with the contract between Riverside County Office on Aging. The ED will ensure the Center has a good working relationship with all agencies that support the Center and will continue to seek new grants and business opportunities to aid in the continued operation of the Center.
2. The Senior Center Executive Director will develop an annual budget for operation of the Senior Center and present to the Office on Aging and Board of Directors for approval.
3 . The Senior Center ED will provide supervision of day-to-day Senior Center operations and make every effort to maintain a harmonious atmosphere for all members, visitors and staff.
4. The Senior Center ED will provide training to all staff, including volunteers involved in the ongoing operation of the center and supervise those employees on a day-to-day basis.
5. The Senior Center ED will attend all meetings with our grantors and contracts. In the event the director cannot attend then a qualified representative of the Senior Center may attend in the directors’ place.
6. The Senior Center ED will provide staff support to the board for the quarterly meetings by notifying board members, providing an agenda and other functions as deemed appropriate by the Chairperson of the board. The Senior Center ED is an employee of the Governing Entity and a non-voting member of the board. The Senior Center ED salary is set by a contract with Riverside County Office on Aging. The Senior Center ED will assist any of the Board of Director officers in their duties when necessary.
7. The Senior Center ED will work with public and private organizations and agencies in an effort to encourage coordination of services to benefit seniors.
8. In concert with the Senior Center Governing Board, Office on Aging, and center participants, the Senior Center Director will develop programs and activities that will both inform and involve the participants. A monthly calendar of activities will be developed and displayed at the center.
9. The Senior Center ED will maintain daily records of attendance, meals served and other programs offered at the center and verify that the information is recorded accurately in the software.
10. The Senior Center ED will maintain the financial records of the fundraising account in accordance with the fiscal policy in the Policy and Procedures Manual.
11. The Senior Center ED will collect and deposit program income from the Senior Center or Senior Nutrition Program in accordance with the fiscal policy section of the Policy and Procedures Manuals.
12. The Senior Center Executive Director will be available for monitoring and evaluation visits by Riverside County Office on Aging.
13. The Senior Center ED will ensure that each person receiving service through the senior center complete an intake form and an assessment. This information is to be updated quarterly.
14. The Senior Center ED will provide a copy of the annual staff performance evaluation by the board to the Governing Board.
15. The Senior Center Director will maintain property inventory of the center.
16. The Senior Center ED is responsible for following the Policy and Procedures Manuals for the Senior Center, Nutrition program and Senior Center Bi-laws. Any changes will be reviewed by the Governing Board and reported to RCOoA.
17. The Senior Center ED is responsible for informing the community of events and activities through outlets such as local newsletters, social media, email, etc.
18. The Senior Center Director will maintain a 501©3 tax exempt status and provide the Riverside County Office on Aging with a copy of the annual report filed with the CA. Secretary of State.
19. The Senior Center ED will maintain an active status with the CA Secretary of State Registry of Charity Division.
20. The Senior Center ED is responsible for organizing fundraising activities to support the operating expenses that are not covered by the grantee.
21. The Senior Center ED is responsible for managing the Senior Nutrition Program which includes cooking meals for participants to consume on site and home delivered meals. ED will maintain nutrition records such as meal count, temperatures, etc. The ED will make a monthly newsletter and menu for members.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma with experience in gerontology, elder health and community resources preferred
2. Computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
3. Experience in bookkeeping
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. Organizational skills and attention to detail
6. Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
7. Strong supervisory and leadership skills
8. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
