POSITION: Vice President, IR and Corporate Communications
LOCATION: Boston

REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President or President

JOB DESCRIPTION
Acts as an advocate and facilitator of organizational growth for LaVoieHealthSciences investor relations and corporate communications capabilities and integration of social business practices into employee day-to-day activities, as well as leading existing client relationships and managing new business initiatives. Of note, the LHS IR practices includes companies that are publicly traded as well as companies with an eye toward the public markets at some future time.

The Vice President, IR & Corporate Communications is a role model for the agency. He or she promotes the firms values and executes integrated strategies. The Vice President acquires new business leads, understands integrated communications, develops pitches and current client presentations, ensuring creativity and quality. This person masters level 3 skills in investor relations, corporate communications, client counseling and progresses to level 3 sales. This person integrates with other members of the LaVoieHealthScience communications and public relations team, including tapping into social media team/skills as well as media relations.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes, but not limited to the following:
1. Masters level skills in investor relations and corporate communications, social media, media relations, writing, client counseling / client relations and continuous progression.
2. Expertly manages accounts and major billings. Responsible for client program development, implementation and retention. Manages client relations issues and receivables, working with accounting as needed.
3. Keeps management abreast of account status.
4. Is involved in high level account work and seeks senior executive input when necessary.
5. Produces creative, sophisticated strategies and content.
6. Is a key driver in client retention, sales support efforts, client billings, championing firms growth and strategic plan. Is a turnkey on any account regardless of complexity or difficulty.
7. Manages budgets and handles budget discussions and difficult conversations with clients.
8. Understands and participates in group marketing plan, strategies and events for IR/Corp Comms area.
9. Demonstrates leadership in new business development and meets forecasts.
10. Manages group culture and assists with talent review and acquisition. Assists with managing day-to-day human resources and staff allocation issues.
11. Coaches and develops employee careers.
12. Is actively involved in agency committees and special assignments.
13. Is responsible for thought leadership in IR for the firm, including development of templates and training internally.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Demonstrates strong proficiency in integrated communications strategies.

Investor Relations
Takes full ownership of investor relations activities for clients
including:
  • Conducts buy- and sell-side analyst outreach, including private and public company investor outreach
  • Leads and/or manages quarterly reporting cycle including press release, conference call script and slides
  • Optimizes client participation at investor conferences including supplemental outreach as needed, development of appropriate PPT presentation
  • Leads and/or manages Investor Day or KOL events including audience outreach, content development and logistics oversight
  • Provides guidance on material events including scenario planning and execution
  • Conducts perception studies including development of questions, interviews with investment community and preparing final report and recommendations
Other IR work as needed
Supervises and/or trains junior staff on IR best practices


Corporate Communications
Takes full ownership of corporate communication activities for clients including:
Developing strategies for corporate positioning
Leads and/or manages news flow development
Counsels clients on strategic positioning
Develops messaging platforms including story angles and channels for delivery including media outlets, conferences and other events
Creates collateral including corporate presentations and Fact Sheets
Writes by-lined articles and other media copy, traditional and social development
Provides strategic counsel
Other CorpComms work as needed
Supervises and/or trains junior staff on Corporate Communications best practices
Contributes to media relations efforts on behalf of clients as well as thought leadership.

Industry Relations
The ability to develop and retain relationships with the broader healthcare industry community, including industry consultants, analysts, association leaders, legislative contacts, lawyers and other referral resources, is key to success. Familiarity with the industry analyst community also is critical, both in identifying trends but also revealing opportunities for new business. This professional will position the firm by speaking at industry events and creating a presence for LaVoieHealthScience in key industry trade publications. He/she will identify and take advantage of opportunities to speak at industry and trade events that host target clients, referral sources, and industry thought leaders.

Social Media (works with social media team)
Possesses turnkey capabilities in developing social program strategies and executions, while also managing a team of social communications professionals, and driving social specific new business opportunities:
Strategy and Planning: develops and councils clients. as well as pitches prospects on brand/ organization, internal and external social media program strategies, channel platform strategies, online reputation and other social communications initiatives
Policy Development: creates and helps implement social media policies for clients
Training: works to train clients across their organization around general usage, social policies, community and content management, technology and platform usage, crisis council, etc.
Technology Integration: researches and introduces technologies that forward LaVoies social marketing infrastructure and capabilities

Writing
Takes complete ownership of all writing activities for clients meaning:
Client-ready first drafts of all types of communications
Management/mentorship of subordinates written assignments
Sign-off on documents
Takes leadership role in generating new content for new business proposals

Client and Counseling Relations
Identifies client needs and manages client growth opportunities
Counsels clients on more sophisticated strategies and problems
Leads clients in crisis management situations
Possesses expert leadership development skills
Takes initiative in developing proposals and RFPs
Develops new business content
Mentors others in increasing skills on the sales front
Leads presentations
