Position Summary

Company is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join its growing team at the Irving facility. The HR Manager will lead the routine functions of the Human Resources role, including talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, compliance, and helping to grow our employee-first culture. This position reports to the CFO. This is a department of one, so the ideal candidate must be ready to roll up their sleeves and work independently and be able to work directly with a team of department managers, executive leadership, and external suppliers. This position requires an enthusiastic and positive self-starter with a strong drive for systems and processes while creating a positive and collaborative environment to help grow the organization's culture. Advanced people skills along with a strong understanding of recruiting, benefits, and payroll administration are required for this role.


All positions at Astura report to the office daily and we do not have remote or hybrid opportunities currently. Normal work hours are from 8 am to 5 pm.


Responsibilities

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manages the bi-weekly payroll process with final approval from accounting.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, hiring of qualified job applicants, and onboarding and orientation for all roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Establish a standard recruiting process; evaluate position descriptions and assist with updating as necessary; write and place advertisements for open roles; conduct new employee orientation.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent; assist with annual evaluation of benefits program and provider selection.
  • Coordinates employee performance review process; oversees disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies, practices, documentation, and records to maintain compliance; update employee handbook as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs benefits administration including evaluation of existing benefits structure and recommendations for enhancement, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:


Qualities, Qualifications, and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written).
  • Thrive in in fast paced, high-growth environment preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, compensation structures, HR policies, and benefits administration
  • Ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent acquisition process.
  • Experience processing payroll. Paylocity experience is a plus.
  • Teamwork--able to work concurrently with all levels of staff in such a manner as to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills, an ability to balance immediate/long-term priorities, and exceptional multitasking skills are a necessity.
  • Ability to handle confidential business matters and information with discretion.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
