Grading Supervisor/Inspector

DFI is seeking an experienced civil grading, erosion control, environmental construction inspector to be assigned to assist Harford County DPW monitor compliance with erosion and sediment control compliance on projects within the county.  The work also includes the new construction of of 3 fishing boardwalks, restoration and stabilization of disturbed areas along with the planting of trees and shrubs.

While assigned the inspector will be responsible for overseeing the general contractor to assure compliance with all applicable permits as well as the plans/specifications and safety procedures relevant to the project. The inspector will be required to upload and maintain a detailed project log utilizing a electronic software. The records will also be closely monitored for compliance by the various governing agencies issuing the project. Critical activities must be closely monitored and coordinated with permitting and scheduling as well as sequencing restrictions as applicable. Daily ledgers and material approval and clearance will be required. The inspector must file detailed daily reports logging the activities further substantiated with photographic imagery support.

Ideal candidates will already posses the MDE issued RPC certification and have a minimum of 3 years experience or relevant education. A valid RCP certification is ultimately required. Continual employment for this assignment is contingent upon the inspector processing the certification. It noted the certification must be obtained prior to assignment to the project.

Formal education focused in an environmental area is a strong plus during the hiring screening.

All employees are subject to drug screening and background checks. The position requires a valid driver's license at all times and dependable transportation.

Work is performed in the field. Work is primarily conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Applicants must have ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs as needed. The work may require climbing of ladders to heights or to lower into trenches. The applicant will also be required to have sufficient balance to regularly traverse uneven or potentially lose ground and large rock surfaces. This position may require traversing both land and water as well as inspections conducted from watercraft.
