Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Chief Retail Officer to lead our retail stores nationwide. The Chief Retail Officer is essential to our success and operational excellence, as we continue our company growth through expansion and acquisitions.

The CRO will be responsible for providing inspirational leadership and direction to the retail sales team, increasing product market share and profitable growth across all retail channels. You are responsible for the development and on-going management of retail operations including strategic business planning, operational policies and procedures, and market launch readiness.

 

Essential Functions & Expectations

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that align with company’s goals and objectives;
  • Drive the translation of established objectives into actionable tasks, resulting in increased market share and profitable growth;
  • Collaborate with C-Suite Executives to refine sales strategies based on feedback and market dynamics;
  • Standardize tools, improve process, and implement technology to drive consistency and enhance the customer experience;
  • Develop and lead a cost-effective and scalable retail store expansion process;
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication across channels resulting in alignment and understanding of business plans and priorities.

Align Teams / Manage Teams

  • Successfully coach teams across multiple locations, ensuring they are delivering against key business metrics;
  • Manage succession planning and leadership training across retail stores;
  • Strategically positions talent for future growth and expansion;
  • Build effectual professional development plans and opportunities;
  • Leverage cross-functional strengths to capture new opportunities and address organizational challenges;
  • Delegate tasks and direct reports ensuring objectives are achieved;
  • Own and drive workforce planning to enable effective forecasting and labor planning;
  • Develop a culture of contribution from all reports resulting in constant business and personal evolution;
  • Build strong connections and foster cross functional relationships to drive engagement and enhance retail success.

Analyze Data

  • Monitor sales performance metrics, analyze data, and prepare reports as required;
  • Identify and assess new market opportunities and emerging trends to strategically position the company for growth;
  • Identify areas for improvement and make informed strategic decisions;
  • Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects;

  • Establish and administer department budget.

Market Research / Pricing Strategies

  • Stay current with industry trends, competitor activities and market dynamics to proactively adapt sales strategies;
  • Drive accurate sales forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis to optimize resource allocation and maximize profitability;
  • Partner with C-Suite to plan promotional, merchandising, and communication activity driving sales and revenue;
  • Improve brand equity and market position by creating competitive pricing policies;
  • Analyze perspective on market opportunities and share relevant information with strategic partners.

Operations

  • Work with Retail Ops team to ensure operations and logistics support in-store performance;
  • Control channel expenses and maintain project budgets;
  • Actively support strong cross-functional partnerships;
  • Facilitate meetings with partner department teams to ensure consistent brand standard and positive channels of communication;
  • Oversee all new store openings with cross-functional coordination and team wide communication;
  • Evaluate departmental activity for compliance with safety laws, regulations, and company standards.

 

Requirements & Success Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or other relevant business discipline required;
  • 7+ years in a Director or higher management capacity required;
  • Strong business acumen and proven track record of leading business strategy to achieve profit & loss results;
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market insights to drive actionable strategies;
  • Proficient knowledge of the retail industry, including regulations and operating guidelines;
  • Excellent communication skills and cross functional project management experience;
  • Hands-on management style with a strong bias for action and results;
  • Team organizer, builder, and motivator with exceptional influencing skills and leadership qualities;
  • Highly developed sense of accountability and ownership;
  • Strong degree of professionalism in dealing with all levels of the organization;
  • Intentional execution of work with an eye towards diversity, equity, and inclusion.
