Job description

SAIC is seeking a Staff Officer to join SAIC's Prime SETA program supporting the NRO in Chantilly, VA. The Program supports the NRO's Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED), responsible for the acquisition of systems over the complete end-to-end life cycle. At the Directorate front office level, Staff Officer assists the Chief of Staff, the Exec, and Directorate front office in advising the SES level Directors. 

As the Staff Officer, you will apply your expertise to shape messaging to external visitors, Directorate and SPO engagements, and the Directorate workforce. You will assess TIER action items, provide input for reviews like the Program Status Review, the Quarterly Performance Review, draft all hands talking points, etc. You will also provide input on processes like travel coordination approval, Directorate and SPO level engagements, promotions and retirements, Program Management reviews and Directorate templates. You will directly support the front office of an acquisition organization of several hundred government, contractor and FFRDC team-members. You will have the opportunity to provide acquisition and technical input to ongoing and future development efforts. 

Key Responsibilities to Include

  • Serve as strategic resource for day-to-day client needs.
  • Communicate action item progress to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Advise the Chief of Staff, Directorate Exec and front office members in a wide variety of initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance on strategy coordination across programs and teams.
  • Lead customer optimization initiatives to achieve Directorate objectives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to implement recommendations.
  • Strategic planning & stakeholder engagement.
  • Assess stakeholder objectives and priorities, ensuring alignment with Directorate National-level strategies.
  • Develop and monitor metrics frameworks. 
  • Demonstrate thought leadership for Directorate initiatives.
  • Develop innovative approaches to streamline recurring strategic plan reviews, processes and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of latest software development and acquisition trends.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience in business/marketing, computer science, engineering, or cyber related field; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI Poly.
  • Experience supporting the IC.
  • Foundational understanding of space systems architecture, satellite operations, and ground segment mission support.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive mission outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, briefing, and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success working across diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to excel in fastpaced, dynamic mission environments.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and a demonstrated aptitude for onsite SETA support.
  • Prior experience as a Chief of Staff or Executive Officer is highly desirable.
