Job Description

Position Summary:

Supervises client self-administration of medication.

Responsible for monitoring medical concerns and arranging for client medical care.

Responsible for accurate, effective, and efficient medication room processes.

Essential Duties:

MAINTAIN MAT client files according to licensure standards.

MAINTAIN and update client appointment schedule for medical providers, counselors, and medication pick-up.

PERFORM drug screens according to current protocol and enter results in CMBHS.

TRACK and complete client financial eligibility updates in CMBHS.

ENTER group notes and medical provider notes in CMBHS.

ORDER and replace supplies as needed to maintain stock level.

SCHEDULE random callback appointments for medication counts and drug screens.

MAINTAIN documentation on CMBHS and STATS.

PERFORMS various clerical tasks, filing, copying, etc.

ASSIST Nurse manager in completing assigned audits for quality monitoring.

ATTEND team meetings and All Staff Meetings.

PROVIDES emergency direction as appropriate.

Required Competencies:

  • Observing and documenting clients’ self-administration of medications.
  • Recording significant events related to clients’ medical issues.
  • Managing medical crisis and providing direction to staff according to a crisis management model.
  • Ensuring the medication room procedures concur with all licensing standards.
  • Ordering stock medications and supplies.
  • Completing medication room audits such as first aid box audit and medication administration record audit.
  • Conducting health education and medication management education and training as assigned.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with local vendors such as the pharmacy and lab.
  • Ability to document medication/medical issues clearly and concisely.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant Certification and Experience with chemical dependency issues is required. Minimum of six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as medical records, psychological and chemical dependency evaluations, and intake assessments. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to document intake information clearly. Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Skills and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Willingness to learn new skills as needed to perform job functions
  • Willingness to cross-train with other departments and team members
  • Ability to prioritize work, be detail-oriented, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and function as an integral part of a team with minimal supervision

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (offered through orientation process) within 30 days.

  • Must be knowledgeable about computer systems. Must be proficient with different software applications including Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Climb and descend stairs to all floors of the dorms in the event elevators are not accessible due to mechanical issues or emergency situations. Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat.
