Business Development Representative – Software

AquaPhoenix Scientific is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Development Representative (BDR) with expertise in software sales and offering B2B solutions. The Software BDR plays a critical role within the sales function to generate leads through cold calling, follow up on leads generated from various sources, and set up and participate in software and product demos with the SaaS technical team.

The Software BDR will collaborate closely with the sales, marketing, and software teams to understand target markets, refine messaging, and optimize lead generation strategies. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in achieving sales targets, lead generation, marketing methodologies, and a positive and persistent “can do” attitude to achieve sales goals and objectives.

Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:

The ideal candidates for the Business Development Representative position must possess an ability to comprehend, anticipate, and diagnose customer needs, concerns, and objectives while acting quickly with sound decisions to apply basic resolutions. Although not all inclusive, additional responsibilities, expectations and skills will include:

  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities
  • Contact potential clients through cold calls and emails
  • Present our company to potential clients
  • Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services
  • Customize product solutions to increase customer satisfaction
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with clients
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market
  • Set up meetings or calls between (prospective) clients and Account Executives
  • Report sales results to the Business Development Manager on weekly/monthly/quarterly basis
  • Stay up to date with new products/services and new pricing/payment plans

Desired Skills, Education, and Knowledge:

AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Business Development Representative - Software position will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, chemistry, or related field equivalent and 3-5 years’ work experience in a business development role.

Additional characteristics and skills include but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
  • Track record of achieving sales quotas
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce/HubSpot)
  • Familiarity with MS Excel (analyzing spreadsheets and charts)
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations and product demonstrations
  • Great communication skills along with leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to proactively lead, motivate, speak with and train others.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in software development or IT industry a plus.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
