Engineering Administrator

 

Supervisor: Director of Engineering and Operations

 

Classification: Full-time, exempt

 

Summary Description:

 

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive individual to join our team as an Engineering Admin. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for managing the permitting process for solar projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating communication between stakeholders. Additionally, you will provide drafting support and assist with various administrative tasks to support our engineering team.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties


Solar Permit Coordination:

 

  • Manage the end-to-end permitting process for solar projects, including obtaining necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.
  • Ensure all permit applications are accurately completed and submitted within specified timelines.
  • Ensure all permit applications are routed to all of the required building departments for approval.
  • Liaise with permitting agencies, inspectors, and other stakeholders to address any inquiries or issues that arise during the permitting process.
  • Keep abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and update internal processes accordingly to maintain compliance.
  • Follow up with plan checker for ETA's and timelines on permit approvals.
  • Route permitted plan sets to the appropriate project managers upon permit issuance.
  • Help track permit expiration dates and coordinate renewal processes as needed.

 

Drafting Support:

 

  • Assist with the preparation of technical drawings, schematics, and layouts using computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop accurate and detailed drawings for solar installations.
  • Revise and modify drawings as needed based on feedback from internal teams or regulatory authorities.

 

Engineering Administrative Support:

 

  • Provide general administrative support to the engineering team, including organizing meetings, maintaining project documentation, and managing correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure materials and equipment needed for projects.
  • Help maintain project schedules and budgets by tracking expenditures and monitoring project milestones.

  

Key Qualifications & Required Skills/Abilities

 

  • Proven experience in permit coordination, preferably in the solar or renewable energy industry.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permit requirements related to solar installations is a plus.
  • Prior experience in drafting or technical drawing is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $67,000 and $80,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
