Job description

Junior Systems Administrator

The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining the City's IT infrastructure, including servers, systems, endpoints, and enterprise applications. This role focuses on ensuring reliable system performance, managing user access, and supporting day-to-day IT operations across all departments. The position combines systems administration, endpoint management, and end-user support, providing Tier I–III technical assistance while assisting with core infrastructure services.

Typical Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of IT experience, preferably with exposure to systems administration, network support, or infrastructure support.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening and obtain and maintain Police Department security clearance if required.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between city facilities as needed.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to support users and maintain accurate system records.
Supplemental Information

Skills and Character Traits

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Admin or Endpoint Administrator Associate, or equivalent industry recognized certifications.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2025, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Omnissa).
  • Experience in municipal or government IT environments.

Working Conditions
