POSITION SUMMARY
The Pastry Cook prepares pastries and dessert items according to established recipes and specifications. The Pastry Cook role will provide support to the Pastry or Executive Chef while working alongside the other Pastry department colleagues. This individual must be able to work effectively as part of a team in a high-volume operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce recipes efficiently and consistently
- Oversee sanitation of pastry station throughout and at the end of shift
- Ensure all requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated areas
- Breakdown work station and complete closing duties
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment to perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner
- Follow directions given by Executive Chef and Lead Pastry Cook
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Ability to accurately follow established recipe and technique guidelines
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly while providing service to many guests at any given time.
- Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift. (excluding mandatory break times)
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
- Must posses a valid Food Handler Card
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Previous Pastry Cook experience is preferred, though any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and ability will also be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid Food Handler Card
