Position Title: Senior Marketing Manager                                                      Type:   Full Time/Exempt

Reports to: Community Engagement Director                                                Location: Seattle/remote

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the agency’s statewide presence through communications and marketing techniques including public relations, social media, copywriting, content management and development, corporate relations, advertising, event marketing, market research, messaging, interior and external design and branding, and analysis / reporting. This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Work with Director of Community Engagement to develop a comprehensive annual communications and public relations strategy based on the approved objectives of the agency’s strategic plan and budget.

Public Relations:

  • Manage agency’s media relations, including cultivating media partnerships, writing press releases, monitoring and tracking coverage, and serving as the primary media contact and an authorized spokesperson
  • Assess and enhance the statewide visibility of Northwest Harvest
  • Cultivate media relations, press lists, and reporter relations
  • Plan and oversee video production, photoshoots, and other media opportunities to provide the agency with fresh, up-to-date, and relevant material(s) on an ongoing basis
  • Identify and secure the most appropriate and cost-effective advertising opportunities for Northwest Harvest
  • Track earned and purchased media
  • Provide regular reports on primary efforts, including ROI, for Director of Community Engagement
  • Speak on behalf of the agency and act as a professional goodwill ambassador representing the agency in the communities we serve, as it pertains to cultivating corporate partners.

Branding:

  • Develop annual agency messaging platform based on agency priorities, including the setting of style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision
  • Write and edit department communications and publications
  • Review all externally facing written materials produced by other departments
  • Assist relevant staff in planning and execution of corporate cause marketing strategies
  • Work with Visual Designer to ensure up-to-date brand implementation across the agency, including interior design and branded vehicles
  • Provide staff and Speakers Bureau training on related topics as necessary
  • Work with Visual Designer on brand implementation and content across print and digital media

General

  • Stay informed and knowledgeable about strategic priorities, programmatic activities, and partnership opportunities.
  • Work with Advancement Operations team department to provide support and analytics of Salesforce
  • Participate in cross functional teams and other activities as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director

 RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:   Frequent contact with leadership and staff. Communicate daily to ask questions, receive and provide information.

External:  Regular contact with vendors, external partners, contractors, professional associates and networks, press, elected officials, donors with timely courteous interactions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A combination of the real-life experience, education, and training listed below provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.

Successful completion of Criminal History Background check is required.

 Ability To/Knowledge Of:

  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player; prioritize listening skills and collaboration; establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships internally and externally with respect and empathy.
  • Understand the importance of centering the expertise of individuals who have experienced poverty or food insecurity in policy advocacy, including best practices in ethical storytelling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals who have experienced poverty or food insecurity in developing effective communications, respecting the individual’s voice, dignity, and concerns
  • Demonstrate interest and commitment to supporting equity and inclusion for members of historically marginalized groups including racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ populations and people living with disabilities.
  • Ask questions to understand the merits of different approaches and shift strategies in response to demands of a situation.
  • Motivate, inspire and leverage the strength of others.
  • Maintain a calm and positive can-do attitude in the face of challenging situations; ability to be flexible, agile and responsive to changing needs and strategies.
  • Provide excellent customer service and experience coordinating many moving pieces.
  • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven successful track record in rapidly and efficiently taking projects from concept to implementation.

  • Analyze data, present in appropriate format.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal and Microsoft Office skills

 Experience:   

  • Five years in marketing communications, public relations, or related field
  • Experience with print, broadcast, and electronic media, including purchased and earned media
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Knowledge of graphic design and page layout

COMPENSATION:
 Northwest Harvest offers a competitive salary and generous benefits which include but are not limited to paid time off, health/vision/dental insurance, and 401(k) retirement plan.

Pay for this position starts at $85,000 per year.
