The Employee Health department provides services that support regulatory and hospital policy compliance including TB testing/screening, immunizations, drug screening, incident reporting and care of injured workers including management of worker's compensation claims. In addition, the Employee Health department houses the on-site Employee Health clinic staffed by Nurse Practitioners.

Responsibilities of the Employee Health RN include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs initial and annual health screening by obtaining relevant data and recording appropriate information. This includes TB assessment, administration of TB skin test, and interpretation of the skin test with proper referral of employees with a positive TB skin test.
  • Makes judgment about, initiates and documents appropriate care of employee occupational injuries or illnesses. Administers first aid or other appropriate care based on department protocol. Seeks advanced medical care when indicated. Processes employee incident reports and logs them into system for record keeping purposes. Acts as liaison in conveying work restrictions and the need for accommodation between employee, employee's physician and hospital manager in effort to ensure employee's fitness to return to work.
  • Initiates and manages workers' compensation cases in accordance with OSHA and LA Worker's Compensation Laws.
  • Participates in drug and alcohol-free workplace policy by collecting acceptable specimens and maintaining records in a secure manner. Assists supervisors/managers in determining need to conduct for cause testing.
  • Supports employee clinic services by assessing and triaging patients for Nurse Practitioner.
  • Informs employees of significant abnormal lab findings following initial and annual health assessments and refers for follow-up when indicated.
  • Participates in employee vaccination program by assessing the need for vaccination, informing employee of the need, educating employee about the disease, and providing vaccine information to the employee. Provides safe administration of the vaccine and appropriate follow-up when indicated.
  • Assists with new employee orientation discussing the employee health services and health related responsibilities of the employee.
  • Works with Infection Prevention department in tracking employee illnesses, infections, and exposure to communicable diseases, and discusses work restrictions when appropriate.
  • Has knowledge of Department of Labor quarterly reports and assists in the completion of the quarterly and annual reports as directed by the Employee Health Coordinator.
  • Initiates blood borne pathogen exposure protocol when needlesticks or other occupational exposures occur. Provides appropriate information to employees and seeks immediate medical intervention as indicated.
  • Reviews OSHA Medical Evaluation Questionnaire and performs respirator FIT testing for designated employees.
  • Performs other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Hours

Employee Health office hours are 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Call is required including weekends and holidays.

Pay

$30.49 - $48.78

$150 Employee Referral Bonus
