Job Description

The Policy Manager reports to the Vice President for Policy & Governance and serves as a key resource for the university's policy development and governance processes. The position provides consultation and guidance to the university community on administrative and academic policy development, tracks the lifecycle of university policies through the shared governance system, and coordinates the University Policy Advisory Committee.
The Policy Manager is responsible for the centralized management, maintenance, and communication of university policies, ensuring consistency, clarity, accessibility, and alignment with best practices, regulatory requirements, and institutional priorities. The position exercises significant independent judgment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, higher education, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in policy research, writing, development, governance, compliance, or a related field; experience within higher education is preferred.
Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, editing, and written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment.
Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn shared governance structures and processes.
High level of professionalism and ability to work effectively with senior leaders, faculty, and staff across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree in public administration, higher education, or related field, or experience equating to terminal degree.
Experience working with institutional policy management systems or workflow tools.
Knowledge of national best practices in higher education policy governance.
Experience developing training or professional development materials.
Familiarity with web-based content management and digital communication platforms.
