Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm
Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health required. Master’s degree preferred.
5-7 years in Health Information Management.
2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Experience with HIPAA, EHR, Medical Coding and billing, Joint Commission and CMS regulatory compliance, policy development, quality assurance and auditing, and healthcare data and analytics/reporting.
Licensure and Certification:CPR and/or BLS Certification required
American Health Information Management Association certifications required: preferably RHIA, minimum requirement is RHIT and a CCS or CCS-P
CHPS, CPC, CPHIMS, preferred

SummaryThe Health Information Officer is responsible for overseeing the organization’s health information management functions, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and security of patient health records in compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations. This position provides leadership in medical records administration, HIPAA compliance, electronic health records management, data governance, and regulatory readiness.
The Health Information Officer collaborates with clinical, administrative, and compliance teams to ensure efficient documentation practices, records management, and health information processes that support quality patient care and operational excellence.
ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, state regulations, and organizational privacy standards.
Maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and security of all patient health information.
Manage electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems and related documentation workflows.
Monitor medical record completion, accuracy, and timely documentation.
Develop, implement, and maintain HIM policies and procedures.
Coordinate release of information requests in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Conduct audits and quality assurance reviews of medical records and documentation practices.
Prepare for and support regulatory surveys, audits, and accreditation reviews.
Train and educate staff on documentation standards, privacy practices, and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with leadership regarding risk management, compliance initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
Supervise HIM within company, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
Generate reports and analyze health information data to support organizational goals and compliance initiatives.
Maintain knowledge of current healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and industry best practices.
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist FHCA in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful family practice for all patient and employees.
