Job Description

Summary: The Development Manager is a full-time position that fills a critical role of strategically managing our individual donor campaigns (membership and annual fund), assisting in directing our major fundraisers, managing our donor database system, inputting donations, assisting in grant writing and grant reporting and assists in our Direct Mail Program. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Development while also working closely with the staff, volunteers, donors, the media, and other key internal and external stakeholders. This position works collaboratively with the marketing and communications team in defining goals and implementing strategies and tactics related to marketing, communications, and branding initiatives.

Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to the following)

· Work with the Director of Marketing & Development to implement an annual development plan to ensure specific development goals are met.

· Manage special events with the Director of Marketing & Development, conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help the Executive Director and Director of Marketing & Development make decisions about event possibilities.

· Oversee, create, and implement a direct mail campaign including donor appeal letters, newsletters, and e-blasts in partnership with a third-party fundraising company, as the primary contact for the outside company. With support from the Director of Marketing & Development as needed.

· Coordinate special events as needed with the Director of Marketing & Development. May include; on-site arrangements for all meetings and events, negotiations for space contracts and booking event space, arranging food and beverage, ordering supplies and audiovisual equipment, ensuring appropriate décor, and closing out all events.

· Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters.

· Assist with managing on-site production, staffing and clean up for all events as necessary.

· In collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Development, create and execute a plan that drives donor engagement. This plan includes information for major donors, planned giving, monthly giving, an end-of-year integrated marketing campaign to support fundraising efforts, special messages from the Executive Director, and other relationship-building vehicles.

· Propose new ideas for fundraising, event planning, and implementation processes throughout the year.

· In collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Development, support all grant requirements and reporting.

· Serve on the Development Committee and Special Events Committee.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

· Prioritize projects and initiatives, and ensure all workflow meets deadlines as well as brand standards.

· Manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.

· Understand, develop, and maintain good working relationships with all Paws leadership and staff.

Qualifications (include, but are not limited to the following)

Education, Skill, and Experience:

· Associate’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

· Two or more years of Development experience in related field.

· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Be self-directed and demonstrate a strong ability to work well with a wide range of individuals and groups.

· Must be proficient in fundraising, and comfortable with “cold calling” and public speaking.

· Proficient with a computer.

· Proficiency and understanding of donor CRM systems is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Abilities, and/or Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Job Functions:

· Must have a valid driver's license and MVR record insurable by commercial insurance

· Must be physically able to perform fast-paced, physically strenuous labor that requires walking/ standing for long periods and lifting up to 50lbs

· Must be physically and mentally able to handle animals safely and effectively

· Must have the ability to speak normally and use normal or aided vision and hearing

Working Environment:

· Indoor & Outdoor shelter environment that operates 7 days a week.

· Interaction with a variety of species of animals, of unknown medical history, where there is potential exposure to zoonotic disease.

· Frequent exposure to common allergens and daily contact with sanitation chemicals and cleaning products.

· No personal animals are allowed on the dog floor premises based upon the safety recommendations of our supervising veterinarian.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,400.00 - $42,000.00 per year
