Systems Administrator

We have a 1-year hybrid Systems Administrator contract that may be extended by our client for another 1 year. The anticipated start is in early May 2024.

Our client is currently working remotely. However, the Systems Administrator may periodically be required to work onsite at our client offices in Sacramento, California. The Systems Administrator agrees to collaborate with our client, as needed, to determine a schedule for onsite work, when necessary, as required by our client to successfully provide the required services.

Our client administers a critical services stabilization program, which assists state agencies and departments in identifying and resolving threats to the delivery of critical services. Our client services stabilization program accomplishes this mission by performing assessments of service delivery environments and then making recommendations on how best to remediate the vulnerabilities identified by those assessments. Our client services stabilization program assessment team partners with the agency or department to learn the system's role in providing critical services and to understand its stability and scalability. Each assessment results in a report with a series of findings and associated recommendations to improve the health of the critical services. Our client partners with the system stakeholders and key state staff to implement the recommendations provided in the report.

The implementation of report recommendations periodically requires expertise or extended time commitments that cannot be met by the state organizations. To ensure that these recommendations are properly addressed, our client relies on contracted support to fill any gaps. The contracting and onboarding process for new resources can be lengthy and does not support implementing recommendations in a timely manner. A review has been conducted of all recommendations issued our clients' stabilization assessment team and three positions have been identified, that if held in retainer can be utilized to address many recommendations integral to the health of the assessed systems.

The Systems Administrator will be expected to provide server implementation, maintenance, OS, and backup expertise. Some likely tasks for the Systems Administrator include:

• Implement technology solutions in alignment with requirements.
• Perform software or system upgrades.
• Refine logging and monitoring solutions in alignment with business requirements.
• Assist with disaster recovery exercises.
• Implement redundant infrastructure.
• Capacity and reliability planning.
• Outline monthly patching procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8 years' experience systems design, maintenance, analysis, and testing.
• 8 years' experience complex technology implementations, with an eye toward consistent reengineering and refactoring.
• 8 years' experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Enterprise technologies (Windows Server, AD, etc.).
• 8 years' experience supporting and implementing Linux platform services.
• 8 years' experience architecture and implementation of applications in the cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments (VmWare, HyperV, Containerized Services).
• 8 years' experience leveraging Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers and relevant services.
• 8 years' experience relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL), and "NoSQL" databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB).
• 8 years' experience continuous integration/deployment, and continuous monitoring solutions.
• 8 years' experience version control systems (e.g., Git and GitHub).
• 8 years' experience coordinating with business stakeholders to understand their requirements.
• 8 years' experience direct team members in compiling business requirements and executing project milestones.
• 8 years' experience documenting enterprise architecture infrastructure.
• 8 years' experience determining gaps between current and the target architecture and developing plans for transitioning to target architectures.

Desirable Qualifications

• 8 years' experience sharing knowledge across a multi- disciplinary team and working within various methodologies.
• 2 years' experience working on Information Technology projects in support of governmental agencies.
