Job Description
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be the lead staff liaison coordinating all volunteer shifts on the retreat campus as well as off-campus (TMF Events and 3rd party events).
The Volunteer Coordinator regularly engages with the Program Manager, Facilities Manager, and Development Staff to ensure the needs of the Foundation are met with volunteers or if other arrangements need to be made.  The Volunteer Coordinator has a wide range of responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers to support the Travis Mills Foundation mission.
  • Serve as the volunteer’s point of contact to ensure the volunteers feel valued and part of the Travis Mills Foundation Family.
  • Manage consistent communications with volunteers to keep them informed of upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and changes.
  • Serve as a voice for the Travis Mills Foundation mission and spread the word about volunteer opportunities at the Foundation Retreat as well as off-site.
  • Manage volunteer applications, including reference checks, volunteer orientations, and initial and ongoing training.
  • Conduct monthly (or as needed) volunteer orientations for new and returning volunteers before their first volunteer shift and facilitate training for all volunteers in specific duties to include, but not limited to:  kitchen meal preparation, ropes course, adaptive kayaking, pontoon boat and airport driver’s certification, facilities power equipment, and housekeeping.
  • Managing volunteers’ database and keeping information up to date. 
  • Managing individual volunteers for access to volunteer shifts and needs are filled in support of the mission of the Travis Mills Foundation during the various veteran programs {Family, PATHH, and Caregiver} held on campus to include but not necessarily limited to kitchen support, airport drivers, facility, and programming needs.
  • Managing group volunteers on campus supporting {primarily} the Facilities Department in seasonal turnover as well as special projects as needed.
  • Manage volunteers who live out of the local area, to enable them to volunteer, assist or donate in support of the mission of the Travis Mills Foundation
  • Maintain timely contact (email, voicemail, text, phone) as necessary to ensure all volunteer shifts and needs are filled.
  • Track volunteer shift completion and follow up with volunteers who have not been able to volunteer over the last six months to determine reasons and facilitate resolutions.
  • Plan and coordinate a year-end Volunteer Appreciation event as well as a smaller Travis Mills Foundation Staff and Volunteer events across the state to promote gratitude and Staff/volunteer camaraderie.
  • At the end of each season, develop a feedback form for volunteers to submit regarding their experience with the Travis Mills Foundation and suggestions for the future.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • College degree, military experience, or business/professional experience required
  • 2-5 years of management experience OR applicable military experience
  • Veterans / Military Spouses encouraged to apply
  • Excellent organization skills, communication skills, and creativity
  • Professional, polite, and articulate written and verbal skills
  • Ability to think and work strategically – while also being efficient and juggling many things at once
  • Appreciation of the Travis Mills Foundation mission
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and successfully with a diverse community of colleagues, prospects/donors, board of directors, administrators, and volunteers to achieve common goals
  • Willingness and ability to work outside normal working hours
