Draftsperson & Sales

Mid-Dakota Lumber & Supply is seeking an Architectural Draftsman in Harvey, ND. This position is responsible for taking conceptual designs by others and producing technical drawings on various types of building projects; Using computer aided design to complete buildable and permittable drawings; Preparing final drawings from rough sketches, or verbal communication; Completing technical details using drawings, rough sketches, etc.; Resolving discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and working with the client; Implementation and follow-up of the client’s requests; Providing estimates and ordering material in a timely manner; Assist with deliveries, unloading trucks and counter sales as needed; and Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as required

Job Skills, Knowledge, Training and Experience

• Knowledge of common construction techniques to draw plans and details of a building and understanding commonly used terminology, concepts and procedures of the construction industry
• Accuracy with attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Exercise judgment when preparing and modifying drawings and understand resources available to resolve issues and/or when to reach out to the design team for help
• Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments to meet project deadlines
• Some knowledge of building, life safety codes, and other regulations

Education and Qualifications  

• 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area, preferred
• Valid Drivers License
• Good Driving Record

Compensation

Employees enjoy competitive salaries and benefits including Simple IRA with 3% match, paid vacation and holidays, and fully paid health. May vary between Hourly or Base with Commission depending on experience.

Schedule:

• 9 hour shift Monday-Friday 8am-5:30pm
• 1 Saturday per month 8am-1pm, 1 week day off coordinating your Saturday shift.
