METCALFE a growing, international award-winning, experience design firm that focuses on cultural institutions-schools, museums, arboreta, public spaces in healthcare and nature playgrounds is seeking a Project Architect in Old City Philadelphia


The Project Architect will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management of the production of architectural design work from schematic design to contract documents.

The idea candidate has a Bachelors or Masters of Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch-required), 8 yrs. of Project Architect experience and is comfortable designing assemblies and supervising a small team. This is a unique role doing unusual work in a high performing, results driven, casual dress, and dog friendly environment.

Project Architect Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of architectural design and the preparation of construction documents including drawings and specification while collaborating with senior staff and supervising a small team.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, engineers, and vendors to ensure coordination of project requirements and collaborate if necessary.
  • Responsible for product research and coordinating of technical aspects of the design of the project.
  • Follow client or corporate standards for project production and review.
  • Develop presentations, designs, and technical solutions through all phases of the project.
  • Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes.
  • Develop drawing sets issued for permitting, pricing, and construction during the construction document phase and review shop drawing submittals during the construction administration phase.

Project Architect Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters of Architecture required
  • 8 yrs. Project Architect experience
  • 5 yrs. Revit
  • 5 yrs. CAD experience
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Adobe suite
  • 5 yrs. SketchUp experience
  • Must be open to 10% domestic travel

Project Architect Preferred:

  • Licensed Architect preferred (not required)
  • Field construction experience
