Job Description

As the Director, Hotel Operation you will coordinate the efforts of several teams to uphold the Guest Experience of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Your conscientious attention to detail and ability to uphold established standards will ensure each guest leaves with a story worth telling and a feeling worth returning to.

Primary job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide leadership and direction in development, execution, and measurement of guest service standards within Hotel Operations, consistent with The Cosmopolitan Autograph Collection core service standards.
  • Nurture and grow a culture that promotes effective communication, Our Take on Service, teamwork, growth, respect, satisfaction, innovation and diversity.
  • Hire, train, inspire, evaluate, and manage team, ensuring that CoStars receive adequate guidance and resources for achievement of job responsibilities.
  • Responsible for leading CoStars to create service offerings and features with the distinct purpose of differentiating The Cosmopolitan from the competitive set.
  • Work closely with supervisors and management Costars to develop their skills and strengths. Promote and develop a team oriented philosophy, focusing on the importance of unparalleled commitment to excellence in service.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in financial performance, market share performance, guest and CoStar satisfaction throughout portfolio.
  • Develop and execute all strategic operations and financial initiatives with accountability that all objectives are met.
  • Prepare monthly and annual departmental budgets and forecasts with supporting documentation for senior management review.
  • Create and lead special projects and committees to provide continuous improvement to all areas of Hotel Operations.
  • Establish and maintain effective controls to ensure adherence to departmental procedures.
  • Recommend changes in procedures, equipment and physical layout to ensure maximum service, efficiency and security of company funds in all departments referenced above.
  • Work with departmental managers in planning for hotel promotions and special event reservations to ensure most strategic room blocks and facilities of room service to guests.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Facilitate the flow of information throughout the property, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all CoStars under their span of control.
  • Review recommend changes in room rates as required, based on forecasted business levels.
  • Perform related duties as requested.


Job Requirements

  • At least a minimum of Five (5) years prior relevant experience in the direction and management of employees
  • In-depth understanding of Hotel operations and processes
  • Bachelor's degree a related field or equivalent experience
  • Proficient computer skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Familiar with the Forbes and Mobil evaluation criteria
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational lines
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with other leaders
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision making skills to effectively manage the Hotel Operations department
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail
  • Foster a culture of growth and development, excellent guest service, CoStar engagement, and overall positive work environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Strong working knowledge with Title 26
  • At least 18 years of age


Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a Director of Hotel Operations in a large, high-volume integrated casino resort
  • Previous experience in a hotel/gaming environment
  • Previous experience in a luxury environment
  • LMS Experience
  • Ability to speak languages other than English

Work is performed in an office environment and throughout the property in all locations. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. A casino environment typically allows smoking.

Constant contact with executives, department management, applicants, employees and guests is necessary. Requires prolonged sitting or standing and mobility. Requires bending and reaching. Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires eye/hand coordination. Requires use of standard office equipment. Requires basic math. Ability to push and/or pull file cabinet drawers weighing up to 5 lbs. Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Ability to comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
