Traveling Project Manager

Position: Traveling Project Manager
Requirements: 50-75% on-site presence at current project site in Crescent City, CA
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver an 18 month multifamily  construction project. The ideal candidate will travel frequently to the project site to manage schedules, budgets, subcontractors and quality, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within scope. This role requires strong field leadership, excellent communication with owners and trade partners, and proficiency in construction documentation and project management tools.
Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to assigned project sites to supervise construction activities, perform progress reviews and ensure work complies with plans, specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines and control costs.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, including selection support, scope clarification, performance oversight and closeout activities.
  • Prepare, review and manage bid packages; solicit competitive bids and analyze proposals to support procurement decisions.
  • Oversee contract documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders and daily reports; ensure timely resolution and accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain and enforce safety standards on-site in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies; lead safety meetings and incident investigations as needed.
  • Use Procore (or equivalent construction management software) to track progress, document site conditions and communicate with project stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management and clients, including progress reports, budget forecasts and schedule recovery plans.
  • Coordinate closeout activities including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranty handovers and final invoicing.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of project management experience in multifamily and/or hospitality construction with a proven track record delivering projects across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating subcontractors, preparing bid packages, and managing RFIs and change orders.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and proven ability to enforce site safety protocols.
  • Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management platforms and strong skills in project documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills; able to represent the company on-site and with clients.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work on-site for extended periods as project needs require.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), PMP or OSHA 30-hour certification is a plus.
