Job description

Remote/In-Person-American Sign Language (ASL) Court Interpreter Location: Los Angeles, California, United States Job Summary: Seeking Judicial Council of California-certified ASL interpreters to provide interpretation services either remotely (via MS Teams or a virtual court platform) or in person across various court locations, including during evening court sessions. Key Responsibilities: Interpret for deaf or hard-of-hearing litigants, witnesses, and jurors during court proceedings and other court-related activities. Provide interpretation during: Court hearings Juror orientation, voir dire, jury trials, deliberations, and verdicts Self-help assistance, document filing, mediation, and other court business Work alongside a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) when necessary.

Perform simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation as authorized by the Court. Log in to virtual hearings using MS Teams on a personal computer when working remotely. Submit Interpreter Services Billing forms and Daily Activity Logs twice per month.

Maintain certification and continuing education as required by the Judicial Council of California. Qualifications: Must be enrolled on the Judicial Council Master List as a credentialed ASL Court Interpreter. Must have sufficient training, education, and experience to perform interpretation duties successfully.

Must adhere to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Must maintain certification or registration, including completing required continuing education at the contractor's expense.
